At first blush, I was ready to give it a look; but then the review continued, describing a fantasy. I like to watch stuff that is at least plausible. So I’ll pass, knowing that there are plenty of people who enjoy fantasy genres.
I think I need a lot more info, he keeps saying how depraved it is and you need a stomach for it, makes you cringe, etc.. also did he say the false heroes are corporate types? I sense a depraved depiction of capitalism.
Immediate warning sign, the main villain is a bleached blonde guy to resemble Trump. They ruined Stranger Things with that ploy (along with the surprise lesbianism).
It’s a very dark and brutal take on the entire superhero genre. And actually pretty close to the premise of the original comic books, too.
(just kidding)
It’s brutal. I’ve seen the first two episodes and haven’t ditched it yet.
I don’t see any political message, but I didn’t go in looking for one either.
It’s bad acting, horrible writing and only fit for the easily amused.
I just binged on the first season. In my opinion it is easily as good if not better than Breaking Bad or House of Cards which are two of my faves.
If you can get past episode five which is the obligatory homos and sin are are good and christians are bad then it’s a great series,
I won’t watch it, but I have been hoping for like this ever since Captain America supported Mexican drug gangs and kept the border open for them.
Its crap compared to the book. Im watching and not at all impressed despite knowing and liking the actors.
@SPOILERS@
They deviated so far from the original its just irritating. No, queen mave was not a lesbian. While the Homelander is played well, hes a freaking giant, not a normal guy.
They captured the essence of the characters but it may as well be a different story altogether. Right from the start it is just wrong.
It is also hard to watch where the comic book was perversely enjoyable.
Anyway, its passable. No great achievement. It should be completely redone as a cartoon so they can fully flesh out the story, not the lame crap they turned out.
Marvel and DC movies do not equal Marvel and DC comic book tales of superheroes.
The movies are WAY dumbed down over the comic books. Deadly Skybeam at the climax of almost every “episode”.
“”” family-friendly genre, with dark twists and unapologetically graphic scenes of sex and violence. “””
ok
I’ll pass
What is the “bottom line” message. Who are the good guys and bad guy?
Given that everything today is politicized to the max, and entertainment is 95% leftist, and this is from Amazon, I just can’t imagine that it’s something I would enjoy.
sounds good to me.
was just wondering what to put on the tv...
I bulled my way thru these 8 episodes. It’s pretty hard core. Language, and even though one of the main characters is a hateful SOB, they take their shots at Christians in a couple episodes. I was pretty disgusted with that.
Concept is realty cool and plausible, but they made it too hard core in my opinion.
Yet another superhero movie isn’t an antidote for superhero movies.
I was mildly intrigued by rumor of The Doom Patrol, one of my childhood favorites, but I doubt I will be watching any cable/streaming shows, given the Marxist agenda in full, foul bloom.
There are some really hilarious scenes, with a character known as "The Deep," whose super hero powers are with sea creatures, for instance being able to talk to them.
