Good advice, but hard to believe this is much of a risk given the density and "shyness", aka intelligence, of bobcats.

Seems hard to believe that is necessary.
Sort of like saying “don’t grab a chainsaw by the chain, especially when it is running”.

It’s good advice. Also, scorpions and porcupines are not appropriate for a petting zoo.

My dog is very unhappy when the occasional bobcat passes through.

“They advise that visitors to the parks should resist the urge to pet and hold young bobcats, regardless of how cute they might be. They can claw and bite.”
Kinda thinking that the ‘Crazy Cat Ladies’ already know this and aren’t the ones roaming around in the wild, petting Baby Bobcats, LOL!
When you’re not as smart as a Crazy Cat Lady when it comes to petting wildlife, you’re in big, BIG trouble and probably SHOULD be culled from the herd. ;)

This is why there are so many idiots running around. Nature is no longer allowed to cleanse the gene pool.

Looks like my Calvin.
I do not advise petting him without the proper introductions either.

I was in Custer Nation Park in South Dakota about 10 years ago. There were some Bison on the other side of a little foot bridge and creek. The total distance from them was less than 50 yards. I stayed on the other side but a dumb couple decided to cross the bridge and walk right up to them. It is those kind of stupid people that force park rangers to shoot and kill animals.

Any Leftist stupid enough to pet wild animals deserves whatever bills the ER issues. Any animal control costs should also be rendered. Perhaps the knowledge that the animal will be put down will dissuade some air heads.

If someone wants to get close to a bobcat around here, all they need to do is put a small, yippy, dog in their backyard. A hungry bobcat may soon appear. Other neighborhood wildlife includes a fox (leaves folks alone) coyotes, and of course various small animals for them all to eat.

LOL. What a coincidence. That is my local paper.
This past Thursday was wild kingdom here. I opened the blinds in the morning and noticed what I thought was the neighbors Norwegian forest cat on the porch sofa. I tapped the window and was surprised to find a sleeping bobcat. It darted off. I have seen them here before, but that was odd.
Next, a mother turkey and brood marched by. Dinner some day.
Finally, a doe and two fawns were grazing on apples in my side yard.
Western PA can be interesting at times.

My father used to tell my brother and I that ‘it is easier to catch a bobcat than it is to let go of it.’ Of course, he said it allegorically as my brother and I were attempting some dumb stunt that he knew wouldn’t end well but the visual image always made be smile.

My cat was outside making cat fight noises, (which he never does) so I went out on the deck and called him. “Here kitty kitty”. I could see him about 20 feet from me in the shadows of the woods. “Here kitty kitty”..... just then my cat comes walking up from behind me on the deck.
I look at him, then the cat in the shadows. As the shadow cat was slinking off in the woods I realized he was about twice the size of my cat. Yeah, he was the bobcat we hear occasionally.
