I was in Custer Nation Park in South Dakota about 10 years ago. There were some Bison on the other side of a little foot bridge and creek. The total distance from them was less than 50 yards. I stayed on the other side but a dumb couple decided to cross the bridge and walk right up to them. It is those kind of stupid people that force park rangers to shoot and kill animals.

Custer is a SD state park, not a national park.

“There were some Bison on the other side ....”

Just yesterday, there was a video on the news of a Yellowstone bison hooking a little girl and tossing her in the air. Mom and dad ran away. The Miami family had gotten very close to the bison. The bull didn’t do anything for a while, but then snapped. Fortunately, the girl received only minor injuries.

Sometimes it amazes me how out of touch most people are about how strong and fast even small animals, like raccoons or opossums, are.
