Rex Reed said it was a comedy leading up to the Manson murders with a twist. A comedy. In short another sick Tarantino movie.
He could have left out the Mansion connection but he has a sick mind.
Imaginative and Awful, Once Upon a Time
in Hollywood Is Typical Tarantino

Not in “From Dusk til Dawn”, either. (Harvey Keitel is, however.)
Why do I only seem to get the negative intuitions? I can’t remember any really positive ones.
“You KNOW, ...for KIDS.” :o)
Love The Hudsucker Proxy.
Consider that just making ONE Great Movie — is more than the vast majority in Hollywood EVER did.
Omg were you lucky. You have great intuition.
Inglorious Basterds, Deathproof....his role in Kill Bill is practically a cameo....
Michael Parks turns up a lot, too.
I agree, very much.
Yeah I loved Kill Bill, a little over the top but still very enjoyable.
I agree. Jackie Brown was the last good Tarantino movie. But I’ll give this one a chance.
Great movie. That scene with Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken was pure gold.
thanks for the tip.
LOL
In the Shakespearean sense, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a comedy. It has an arguably happy ending. The movie is ostensibly about the fall and rise of the career of Rick Dalton (DiCaprio). But its really about the bad-assery of Cliff Richards (Brad Pitt).
I dont want to spoil it by saying any more. Theres a reason why Breitbart raves about it.
It’s comic in tone...so is the violent finale. It’s really great filmmaking rom start to finish. Loaded with extraneous details that will take multiple viewings to pick up on.
The ending is actually quite sad...it assumes the audience knows what really happened. It has an “wouldn’t it be nice” aftertaste.
Totally agree.
Jackie Brown
True Romance
Sin City
all great movies
Oh no wonder. Well that explains it. *eyeroll*
I saw it. Best of his fims since PF. It’ll be a classic. DiCaprio and Pitt were outstanding.
I grew up in L.A. during this time. Half the fun of this movie was digging into the details of stuff I had no idea happened at the time. Chatsworth to me was a long train tunnel to Semi Valley that I explored as a kid. No idea it had that movie history to it. Or Manson.
