USA Teams Win 2 Gun Gold and Silver at 2019 World Benchrest Championship
The 15th World Benchrest Championship was held July 17-21, 2019 at the Rosebud Silhouette and Benchrest Club near Calgary Alberta Canada.
Team USA fielded three four man teams. USA Team C won Gold and USA Team A won Silver in the 2 gun grand aggregate. Australia Team A won Bronze.
Joel Nader won individual Gold in the 2 gun making him the current World Champion. His .1325 agg in Light Varmint 200 was a WBC World Record and helped him also win Gold in Light Varmint Grand. Joel won 3 gold and 2 silver medals including team medals.
Bob Scarbrough Jr won Gold in Heavy Varmint 200 and Heavy Varmint Grand. He won Silver in Heavy Varmint 100 landing him a total of 2 gold and 3 silver medals.
Jeff Graves won Gold in Light Varmint 100. Combined with his team medals Jeff took 3 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Jack Neary won Silver in Light Varmint Grand. Combined with team medals he won 2 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze.
The most amazing story of the week was when Walt Berger, founder of Berger Bullets, stepped in as a Team A substitute for Tony Boyer who had to leave due to an emergency at home. Walt, who is 90 years old, is one of the founders of short range benchrest. He shot very well and will be taking home 2 silver medals for his USA Team A contribution. Many thanks to Walt for his lifelong contributions to the shooting sports!
CTV News Calgary did a very nice story and video on the World Benchrest Championship which is linked below:

USA! USA!
90 years old! Wow!
I may have a real talent for bench resting—but I never realized there was a competition for it!
Will never show up in US media because as a matter of policy they refuse to show shooting and shooting sports in a favorable light.
or something like that
Yeah...I know. That’s why I posted here. I know all of the USA team members...shhot withem all the time. I know most of the Canucks as well.
If you use facebook go to the Canadian Tv link and like it. Every little bit helps.
I’m really good at resting on a bench.
Carlos Hathcock and Chris Kyle smiling.
I saw some t-shirts for sale at Camp Perry a few years ago that had the caption “I participate in an Olympic sport that I can’t talk about at school”.
AWESOME SHOOTING !!!
Thank You for Posting this.
