Some things just don't need to be remade. Like the Right Stuff and Catch 22 and The Lion King.

They are classics and almost impossible to improve in content although special effects and CGI is probably at the center focus of the remakes.

Didn't the screen writers go on strike years ago for more money? Ever since, all they seem to produce is remakes of classics, nothing original.

What’s worse is easy - the CGI keeps breaking the suspension of disbelief. Cartoon animals can show expressions on their faces. They can smile, laugh, frown, sneer. CGI animals meant to be photo-realistic can’t - you have to infer some emotion into the blank stares of these animals. And you keep expecting to see Kimba- excuse me, Simba - attack and kill some of the small prey animals he hangs out with.

It’s all a ripoff of Kimba the White Lion anyway.

“it can just quit hiring live actors altogether at some point in the future”

Nope. Won’t happen. Audiences swoon when their favorite live movie stars are the voices behind the animated characters.

There was a rumor earlier this year that Disney was cutting “Be Prepared,” Scar’s classic and iconic “villain song,” from the movie to make room for at least one new Beyoncé song. Then, closer to the film’s release, the soundtrack included a song called “Be Prepared (2019),” which did make its way into the film. Unfortunately, it would’ve been better if “Be Prepared (2019)” had been cut.

Lion King release date: July 19, 2019 (United States)

People should be prepared.

I miss Disney Animation.
It was truly an art form.
I don’t go to the Live Action Remakes unless my wife drags me along.

I love the original Lion King - one of my favorite movies. I still cry when Mufasa dies. Not planning to see the new one though - what for? I know what happens, and it can’t beat the original.
