“Connected” is increasingly the only way white kids get in. When I was an undergrad at Yale the school was already admitting kids of the right skin color, ethnic background, victimology, etc., over brain power.
The dirty little secret of the “Elites”: while the guy who made the fortune which put them into the upper class may have been brilliant and driven, his offspring tend to be unexceptional. By the second or third generation, very unexceptional.
The deepest fear of the upper class, is knowing that the middle class, every year, produces a number of kids who are far more brilliant than the average member of the “Elites”, and would like to out-compete them for their status.
And now you understand why the Elites have been busy for decades in the task of crippling public school education.

Tucker focuses on Democrats in his monologues. I imagine that just as many Republican politicians get their kids into elite schools as well. This is not a Democrat/Republican divide, this is a class divide. I’d love to know the breakdown of how many of the current Congressmen/women have kids in or who have graduated from the elite schools and then how many have had kids graduate from technical schools to be plumbers/electricians/etc... you know, the people that actually make this country work.
Not really. What's truly amazing is that anyone still believes that the ‘brightest and best’ go to specific schools. It's become truly a joke.

It is not a clear Republican/Democrat devide, because many Republicans are Progressives.
It is, much more clearly a Progressive/Constitutionalist or Traditionalist devide.
Constitutionalists need not apply.
This is why I can't lose sleep over affirmative action based upon race/ethnicity: The biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action are not kids of color from the hood who would never been admitted to {name your college} if they were white or Asian kids from the suburbs; rather, they are the mediocre, underachieving offspring of famous parents or notable alumni (i.e., Gore, Bush, Clinton, and a bunch of Kennedy's).

The real story is how the wealthy schools nationally with the help of the Obama administration and the previous Clinton administraion and fedgov sold students and their parents a lousy product and these sales started in elementary school. A GOALS 2000 project.
Taxpayers should never be on the hook for these loans.
THE UNIVIERITIES AND COLLEGES SHOULD PAY AND PAY IT ALL.
They have endowments and real properties to liquidate and that should pay the buld of the outstanding bills.
They profited greatly.
They need to pay it.
You know: the colleges and university that sold pigs in poke, overcharged and made bank on the nation’s future.
They have plenty of endowments and real property that can be taken to pay off the loan
and let the taxpayers off the hook.
