Today’s Cryptogram

WXR, AZBD HKXWAZRL, GKMOZORO KJ UXWSZMT RFD AZMD OKHDSFDXD. –T.B. GFDORDXRKM

Today’s CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.

For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Solution to our last puzzle:

OUR WRINKLES ARE OUR MEDALS OF THE PASSAGE OF LIFE. THEY ARE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH AND WHO WE WANT TO BE. —LAUREN HUTTON

Difficult. Luckily, I somehow guessed the author, and then it became easy.

About 3 and 1/2 min. Guessed at “e”. Was able to get 9th word by solving last 5 letters in the word. Then it was plug and chug.

5:56.75

I guessed the second word from the commas. I should have been able to guess the author.

Four words end in D, somAi picked one of my two favorites, and ran with it. That gave me the likely 3 letter word, then the author....

It’s BONUS puzzle time!!

Yes, it’s BONUS time once again. That laughable time when you get to solve a humorous quote from a classic funny movie, comedian, or entertainer. The trick is, unlike nikos puzzle where you don’t want to post spoilers, with the BONUS puzzle it’s a race for first solution posted, BUT you don’t post the solution directly, You post a funny pic ,gif, or meme that shows you solved it. First pic or gif wins the prize with full bragging rights. Honorable mentions for all original pic or gif posts.

I’ve got stacks of honorable mention awards laying about, so just because someone solves the quote first doesn’t mean you can contribute to the fun.

Don’t get wrapped up in how easy or hard it is. Just solve it and post something funny and share the fun.

Today’s puzzle should be fun and easy. Be creative with your replies 😝

Here it is (with anticipation and drum roll). Ready, set, solve:

V ELLNMI UG GWM JELJN... AMJUCDM V HUD DUTVSX GL QTDMEY... VG'D YVPM GL DMPMS, HWMFM JLCEI WM AM XLVSX HVGW GWUG DUHMI LYY DWLGXCS? - HUSIU

One minute. For a short puzzle, this one opened up quickly after finding the common three-letter word.

I wasted a lot of time with the matching four-letter words. I finally asked myself for authors known by their initials instead of a first name. S.J. Perelman didn’t fit, and then I tried the next one that came to mind. Voila.

Couldn’t get the damn phone to highlight enough for a cut and paste. Did you hijack the ping list? ;)

Took me a while, but I made a lucky guess on the first word and that helped me get a foothold. By the way, I LOVE the BBC series based on a certain character...

No, just tried to ping the usual responders, but that’s a nice idea. How would I do that? 🙃

Ask nikos, I guess. Or cut and paste? It would be helpful. Checked several times yesterday to see if you’d posted it.
