IBTP!
I’ve noticed the day lilies around here (SW Michigan) still haven’t started blooming, whereas they typically start in mid-June.
The flowers on my beans and peas popped this week.
Have tomatoes, peppers. Cukes are slow but just planted them. Everything is doing well. Some yellow leaves from too much rain.
Great snack and or finger food while on the computer.
As predicted, Zone 4/5, SE corner of Wisconsin went from Epic Floods & way BELOW normal temps straight to HOT & HUMID. Grrr!
We have a Wedding this afternoon, but it’s near Lake Mendota and I know the venue has A/C, so we MIGHT survive. Also, Open Bar, LOL!
My Sugar Magnolia Peas are about ready to pick, still harvesting lettuces and kale and my tomatoes are FINALLY showing signs of life! Pepper plants are still not happy - and I have about 6 zucchini coming on fast and furiously.
We finally got Sugar Pie Pumpkins and Sweet & Popcorn planted in the (soggy!) lower garden last week, and my Perennial Bed is looking pretty.
Landscaping is taking a HUGE beating because of those 4 puppies I have running around. They have been ‘de-camped’ to the back deck, as we started tearing apart the kitchen deck for re-roofing and shoring up late in the day, yesterday. I’m down to the wire deciding on paint colors for the house, but I’m narrowing it down greatly! Sherman Williams paint is on sale through the 4th, so we have to act fast!
Beans (pole & bush) are JUST starting to come to life, too.
I had an amazing crop of Strawberries, though - 6 Quarts from my little 8x4 patch. Yay! (Honeoye, June bearing)
Having a beautiful beginning of summer here in Louisiana , one weird happening is supposedly with the TWO openings of the spillways a bug by the name of “smidge” bugs are out in hordes ...along the causeway bridge over lake Pontchartrain . I am talking about cars getting entirely covered front ends and windshields with carcasses of these stinky nasty things , an i/8 to a 1/4 inch deep depending on the size of the swarms....( the causeway is a 20 mile long bridge over the lake).....This is only because of the release of water because the Mississippi is so swollen this year. Beyond that it is beautiful down here .
Some 'Peach Melba' Nasturtium to brighten the day!
I look in the little patch and I think “My weeds are growing GREAT!!” (I don’t know what I got down there, LOL.)
(need some more soil so I can transplant my pepper/etc. seeds)
Should be able to go to mid-November (usually unless an early cold hits like last year)
Or maybe it is Septoria leaf spot. Many cloudy days and lack of airflow helped the disease.
I read that Copper Fungicide was the best treatment, and we got some, and I also site-searched FR on it and one of the hits (by doodad) spoke about Septoria leaf spot being a problem.
But in searching I came across quite a 2009 thread, Weekly Roundup - Living On Nothing Edition[Survival Today - an On going Thread #3] . Over 10,000 replies! Was FR more populous then or what?
