Pinging The List...
Day lilies are blooming .... at least the ones the deer don’t get. They LOVE day lily buds. They got into the hostas, too - it’s a gourmet salad bar for them & they like solid green better than variegated, we’ve noticed. We’re in zone 7a .... had 5 inches of rain in 3 days (on top of already saturated ground) a couple of weeks ago, but the heat/humidity have moved in and it’s drying out fast. The crape myrtles are starting to bloom, the Japanese beetles have made an appearance & the cicadas are singing up a storm. Summer has arrived.
Garden: lots of green tomatoes, a good number of jalapenos, some sweet banana peppers. Inundated in cucumbers, more than enough zucchini and not enough yellow squash, although we’ve had a few pans of yellow squash fried with onions (a favorite). No eggplants yet - don’t see any blooms, either. I am actually caught up on weeding the garden - can’t believe it (I hate weeding)! Caught up on all the mowing due to the new mower, which I absolutely love. The old mower went to its new home yesterday. That’s the one I learned to drive on (Zero Turn) so we had a few adventures - got out our little power washer & cleaned up for the new folks - looked good!
