FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) -- A incident of road rage on the Eastern Shore was caught on camera.

A witness tells FOX10 News that one man pulled a gun on another man in the middle of Greeno Road on Monday afternoon.

Fairhope Police said it started shortly before 2 p.m. when the passenger of a vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Maurice King Mayo of Mobile, exited a vehicle and confronted the driver of a red hatchback.

Another man then got out of his vehicle and jumped on the hood of a car, breaking the windshield with his foot.

Police said Mayo then got a gun from the vehicle and pointed it at the man who was standing on the hood of the car.

Mayo was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a concealed permit. Investigators are still working to identify the driver of the red hatchback.

Anyone who has additional information or photos is asked to call the Fairhope Police Department at 251-928-2385.

Another source said Mayo was a running back for the University of South Alabama last season, but quit the team before spring practice started in March, 2019.

Will need to read this newspaper account a few more times to try and understand who’s who plus learn who attacked whom.

It’s not a newspaper account. It’s TV gerbalism at its finest.

Unclear, vague, often incorrect.

Are you a junior college journalism dropout? Don’t worry, you can always get a job bungling news at your local TV station.

“Ya just can’t shoot someone cause they pissed you off, man.”

This isn’t the Ancient West, after all.

If he’d stayed in the car and fired after the guy stomped on his windshield, then maybe.

The white guy is the baddie in this thing I think. Mayo was stopping him. Notice he wasn’t arrested for brandishing... he was arrested because his dumb a$$ didn’t have a permit.

I thought the charges of needing a permit were a tad strange so I looked it up.

You must have a Permit/License to carry a loaded handgun in any vehicle. 13A-11-73(b) Permit to Carry Pistol in Vehicle or Concealed on Person - Required; Possession of Unloaded Pistol in Motor Vehicle. accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle. Open Carry is legal in Alabama.

If some guy is maniacally karate-kicking the windshield of my car I might do the same. He could be on PCP.

Up here in Minnesota you have to be in fear of great bodily harm with no possibility of retreat or escape.

Pistol without a permit is a misdemeanor here. Small fine.

It’s pretty stupid actually. You can open carry but you can’t carry in your car unless you have a permit. Unless it is unloaded and out of reach.

Probably better to just not get a permit and take your chances. Although I do have a permit. Expires 2020. Might not renew.

Not here. Stand your ground. Chitty chitty bang bang bruh! I kid... we are a SYG state, but you do have to be in fear of your life (great bodily harm) or someone around you (simplified version). Just don’t understand why he didn’t have a permit. They are free for veterans and like, $10.00 for everyone else I think. No class required. You can liberality walk in and come out in 10 minutes with a permit in hand.

Here you need a class for about 100 bucks, than apply in person for 100 bucks. And then up to 30 days for it to arrive in the mail. Repeat every 5 years.
We are also an open carry state, but not suggested because the ninny factor. I think if I walked into a target with my multiple pistols in the open people would be running and/or fainting like I was God-f*ckin-Zilla

Can you open carry multiples? Never thought of that before.

Unfortunately, I live in a Rat City.

Easy solution- get a Customized Holster that hangs outside of the vehicle on the top edge of the window with retention device. Pistol is in plain sight (open carry) and outside of the Passenger compartment.

If Ya need to use Your Firearm it’s right there.

Antitheft device is an Electrical Discharge triggered when someone besides You grabs the Pistol.

Not so much here. I have never seen a rifle in the open, but I have seen several pistols. Folks don’t seem to care too much. I did have my shirt ride up on me in Walmart while I was leaning into the watermelon bin and some guy made a snide remark about my pistol, but given the Yankee accent, I didn’t pay him much attention.
