The gent makes his pitch and sometimes it is effective (even in some cases when the woman was simply attracted to the meal) and sometimes it isn’t.

Basically the authors are saying it’s evolution. Women see men as the provider and will manipulate men to get those resources.

Agree. How enjoyable could the meal be if you can hardly bear the company? Then there's the awkward dumping the date at the end of the evening. I'd rather just order a pizza and watch Netflix. 😊
