What Really Happened to Malaysia’s Missing Airplane
The Atlantic ^

What Really Happened to Malaysia’s Missing Airplane Five years ago, the flight vanished into the Indian Ocean. Officials on land know more about why than they dare to say.

at 12:42 a.m. on the quiet, moonlit night of March 8, 2014, a Boeing 777-200ER operated by Malaysia Airlines took off from Kuala Lumpur and turned toward Beijing, climbing to its assigned cruising altitude of 35,000 feet. The designator for Malaysia Airlines is MH. The flight number was 370. Fariq Hamid, the first officer, was flying the airplane...

What - seriously?

Does he still show his face in public?

So how do you account for the wreckage that is from the flight with serial number identification?

Haven't heard about that--which would also negate my other hypothesis that the plane crashed into a jungle-covered mountainside in Vietnam, along its flight path.

Really?! They’ve been hiding it for 5 freaking years? Wow, conspiracy junkies just never give up. You know people can just buy used planes right? There’s long term storage facilities all over the planet, including in the middle east. No need to hijack one and store for FIVE YEARS. Get over it.

On the Malaysian end, the investigation appears to have been an orgy of butt-covering. Not particularly surprising, given the nature of government bureaucracies. But disappointing, nonetheless.

Nice four-engined 777. They would have better luck putting Melissa on the cover. :)

I found the article to be disrespectful of several potential theories that are real possibilities for MH370 (airframe 9M-MRO). Author Langewiesche's section on such things was labeled "Conspiracies."

The author's tendentious attempted correlation of finding scraps of aircraft that can be claimed to have settled the MH370 mystery is untrustworthy. There is so much of great value involved with this incident that it would be a completely trivial disinformation venture for an interested party to see such airplane parts at shorelines around the Indian Ocean. To suggest these findings tell us dispositively what happened to MH370 doesn't pass the giggle test. Shame on the Atlantic for such an article of thin gruel!

I'm the former CEO of the company that wrote the flight simulation software the MH370 pilot had elaborately set up in his home. We've had many professional pilots who used the software because they believed it was not merely a game, but a realistic tool for real-world navigation and aircraft flight characteristics.

"[D]espite theories to the contrary, control of the plane was not seized remotely from within the electrical-equipment bay, a space under the forward galley. Pages could be spent explaining why. Control was seized from within the cockpit."

It seems almost certain to me that Fully-Automated Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) was taken over via the Boeing-Honeywell Uninterruptible Autopilot (BHUAP).   There needn't have been consideration of any space inside the plane. "Pages could be spent explaining..."   Total nonsense!   BHUAP control could have been effected from almost anywhere on earth.

The undislcosed addition of hardware and software onto Boeing aircraft without properly associated paperwork ("STCs"; read "safety issue", and pilot deception) was the subject of a $615M Boeing settlement to the DOJ. Which is in part to say, Boeing has been down a 737 MAX-type path before. A suit is pending against Boeing and the airline Pilots Association, International related to these matters.

"Attack on Diego Garcia"?   Nonsense!   But the plane could easily have been landed and hidden there using BHUAP.

Why take the plane? Four of the five owners of an extremely valuable patent property were aboard MH370. The fifth bears the name Rothschild and he would stand to gain mightily with the demise of the other four. SERCO, which manages the USPTO, is a British company.

Lt. Col. Field McConnell, USMC ret., brother of Kristine Marcy, the four decades-long head of the Senior Executive Service, and lesbian lover of Hillary Clinton, was called in about April of 2014 by the Malaysian Government authorities to aid in the investigation of MH370. McConnell advised them of the concerns mentioned here-above, including the concern that if they didn't resolve the on-going threat to their aircraft, they could expect to have another incident involving Malaysian Airlines "no later than July 17 [2014]."

On that very day (7/17/2014), MH17 (airframe 9M-MRO) was shot down over eastern Ukraine while enroute Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. Within 24 hours, RT Television showed wreckage from MH17, including bodies that exhibited very advanced lividity, well beyond possible within a week, let alone 24 hours. Also seen among the same crash victims on that RT video were very pale Caucasian bodies that had likely died within 48-hours.

McConnell continues to advise PDJT unofficially on several aviation issues, including BHUAP, 9/11, the Fuddy Hoax, the Malaysian Airlines incidents, etc.

If you read the article, they found one large piece (that finding was reported on FR, BTW) which had a serial number which tied it to the missing 777. They've also found some other little pieces in Madagascar and Africa that don't have serial numbers, but would fit the airplane.

Speculation is the captain was crazy, flew up to 40,000 ft, depressurized the cabin to kill everyone, then flew south until his fuel ran out and dove into the ocean at high speed.

Occam’s razor

Too bad the simplest explanation is not as entertaining as alternative hypotheses.... aka conspiracy theories.

I would suggest something about the incident reflects very poorly on the Malaysian government - as the article points out, they know more than they are telling.

I have always thought that since the Captain was known as an Anwar supporter (and not a radical Muslim) that he took the plane to try to force the government to release Anwar. The government, fearing a 9/11 re-enactment at the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, sent up their air force and immediately took a shot at the aircraft, disabling the cabin pressure and killing the Captain and passengers - whereupon MH370 flew on autopilot to the Southern Ocean until its fuel was exhausted.

The Malaysian government could hardly admit they hastily shot at a civilian airliner without any concrete proof a suicide mission was underway. They could hardly admit their opposition was strong enough to steal civilian airliners in the first place. They could hardly explain to Beijing why they killed so many Chinese citizens out of an excess of caution. So they clammed up about their own involvement and let the mystery go unsolved. Even though the crook Najib is now gone and Mahathir is in charge, the probable loss of face is still too serious to allow any confessions.

Other conspiracies are harder to believe, even in a world where almost every official word out of a government official's mouth is a lie.

Haha, MH370 really *is* parable.

The hot sheets...

Best investigative reporting on the planet.

I cannot believe you're looking for tips in the supermarket tabloids.

Not looking for. Found.

I also speculated that Flight 370 was flown to a Middle East country and transformed into a nuke delivery vehicle. Since then, perhaps, satellite surveillance has become more able to detect any rogue aircrafts flying towards its target. Perhaps a nuke hasn’t become available. Perhaps they thought out the entire plan and found it impossible. Now there is one lone 777 sitting somewhere, waiting for a nuke and a plan.

Yes, seriously. Here’s Don Lemon asking if plane was lost in black hole.

Lemon still shows his face on CNN. I don’t know how public that is.

Gen McInerny said years ago it was in Paki. Fox put the quietus on him for a while.

There was a lot of TV coverage immediately following the disappearance of flight MH 370.

CNN destroyed Fox news in the coverage as they had many people on the ground in Indonesia and had an athortative panel on the subject.

Obviously Don Lemon didn't contribute much to the discussion with his wild speculations.

Fox struggled with the coverage and seemed to just want it to go away. But it wouldn't; and I believe CNNs ratings were higher during that period. - Tom

Quite simply a ridiculous idea. Again planes can be BOUGHT, easily. And frankly so can nukes, though it’s a bit tougher. It crashed, maybe on purpose, maybe on accident. But it crashed into the ocean and is down there. The idea of a plane being hijacked to put a nuke on it later, FIVE YEARS PLUS, later is just dumb. Way over complicated, too many moving parts, too much attention being draw. It’s a heist movie plan, and those NEVER work, not even in movies.

You can just BUY a plane:

Cheap. And through any cutout.

[Oh, they’ll find it when it’s flown, loaded to the max with explosives, into some western capitol as a weapon.]

That’s certainly where I expected it to wind up.

Then I again, I’ll not be surprised if it’s found on the ocean floor, too.

vanished into the Indian Ocean.

Uh no, it vanished over the South China Sea.......A sea routinely patrolled by Chinese military aircraft who were constantly harassing not only merchant ships but commercial aircraft over that region..

My theory is that it was accidentally shot down by a Chinese fighter and covered up by not only the Chinese but the United States and Malaysia...........
