Google Chrome has become surveillance software. It’s time to switch.

Our latest privacy experiment found Chrome ushered more than 11,000 tracker cookies into our browser — in a single week. Here’s why Firefox is better.

Over a recent week of Web surfing, I peered under the hood of Google Chrome and found it brought along a few thousand friends. Shopping, news and even government sites quietly tagged my browser to let ad and data companies ride shotgun while I clicked around the Web.

This was made possible by the Web’s biggest snoop of all: Google. Seen from the inside, its Chrome browser looks a lot like surveillance software.

Please follow the link and read more about this.

The Slimjet browser I use is based on Chrome. But it doesn't track you around the Internet. Not tracking you is one reason Slimjet is generally faster than Chrome.

I use Duckduckgo for searches, unlike Google, they don't track you either.

For add-ons I use Ad Block Plus and Ghostery. Both are excellent. To get around paywalls I use the Reader View add-on. outline.com is also good for this.

Firefox and Duckduckgo

I’m still being watched, but I must be pretty boring.

I use Chromium. It’s bright and shiny like Chrome but without all of the nasties.

Brave browser. It blocks trackers and ads. You can watch Youtube without ever seeing an ad.

Google has been running a program on the sly called “software reporter tool” that scans the content of your computer and reports it to Google, under the ludicrous claim that they are looking for software incompatible with Chrome.

Yes it is probably on your computer right now if you have Chrome installed. You don’t even have to use it - it will launch itself at 5am when most people won’t notice. If you have some modest tech skills you can disable it to use Chrome safely, but they don’t own up to this at all and didn’t ask permission.

Google Chrome has become surveillance software."

Become? It was designed that way since its inception.

"It’s time to switch.

Should have never downloaded it in the first place.
