Today’s Cryptogram

NUEJTVOFV BK ZEJVQ. BUMEQWYSBEU BK TBAVQYSBUF. –NEMB YUUYU

Today’s CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: brain; cryptogram; puzzle; todayscryptogram
If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Solution to our last puzzle:

THERE WAS NEVER A TIME WHEN, IN MY OPINION, SOME WAY COULD NOT BE FOUND TO PREVENT THE DRAWING OF THE SWORD. —U.S. GRANT

Thanks for the ping! I needed about ten minutes. The name of the author was the key for me…

2:30. After trying the most obvious two-letter word to plug in, it made the ends of some of the big words obvious, which led to the big words being solved.

8:23.54

Couldn’t guess the name. Guessed the last four letters of the first word in the second sentence, and it fell out.

I spent a few minutes on a false start (the last name). Finally I concentrated on what the verb must be, and then the name became clear.

Thanks for these! Got this one in 2 minutes. Got the first letter of the 2 letter word (wasn’t ready to commit to second letter), the got the ending 4 letters of first word of second sentance and the rest came quickly.

I look forward to these every day!

One minute. I figured out the two-letter word and then tried the most frequent letters into the high counts until the name of the author popped out. The rest flowed from there.

I have been on FreeRepublic for more than 2 decades. It used to be fun. We could all agree, disagree, trade barbs, get flamed.... Now if you dare to disagree with anyone, you get jumped on like you are a criminal! Used to be fun place, gathering place for information, especially during election cycles. Now especially on the Religion page, which I don’t remember having 20+ years ago, the Newbies there jump on you. I think I will stick with trying to solve cryptograms! You just CANNOT MIX Religion and Politics! Like trying to mix water with oil! Plus your word puzzles are FUN!
