Peabody we're blessed to live around hills in IN. A lot of the state is flat. I'd have a hard time leaving the home place if I lived there.

Thanks. Trying to make decisions on what my sister will like and not what I would want. I'm actually pretty free to do just about anything. My sister isn't artistic. She has some of my ceramic work and its really poor. I was never good in that medium.

That sounds like a great plan too. I think I’ve told this story before, the fist day of parent/student orientation when we took my daughter to UCSD, they spent all day talking about diversity. When we left, I told my wife, they didn’t mention one thing about how they were going to get these kids a job. Sure enough, my daughter graduated last week & no job. She will get one, but with no help (other than the diploma) from the school.

When I graduated, I had 3 offers all from on campus recruiting. I had to call the best one back & tell them they better make a decision fast, because I was getting ready to accept another.

I got a call with two weeks left to graduate (fall of the year) that a job was waiting for me. University had distributed a list of graduates. Someone recognized my name. Didn’t even interview.

The pencils I'm using are water color. That's why I say I'm far from done. I've been experimenting on how to use a wet brush with the pencil. I've never worked with water color. Have you? I keep saying I'll take a class and have never followed through. And yes, I need to make plans to visit and have an art session. Think we could possibly work and not talk the whole time..LOL

Was in a well known engineering school in the early 1970s.

Around 1975 calculators came in and the richer kids got them.

But our slide rules gave us the answers faster and more accurately.

I had a K&E slipstick (Kueffel and Esser).

My girlfriend, who became Mrs. exit82, bought me a Texas instruments calculator for $157.00.

I thanked her and made her take it back—it was way too much money for her to be spending on her secretarial salary, and the prices were plummeting. Soon that same calculator, when I graduated, was $10.00.

I just used the slipstick until I graduated in ‘76. Worked fine for me.

I always thought the slide rule and the micrometer were two of the neatest things around. Kids today probably have seen neither.
