The mayor of Phoenix apologized to a family who said that police drew guns on them after an alleged shoplifting incident at a Dollar Store last month.
I, like many others, am sick over what I have seen in the video depicting Phoenix police interacting with a family and young children, Mayor Kate Gallego said in a statement.

Theres a fine upstanding family.
I believe this is the family whose very young child took a doll from the store without paying. That, to me, should send warning signs as to what they were dealing with. I’m not saying pull guns on a small child but this story wreaks.
Yes, she is our new mayor and all I have heard is that she is a major tax and spend democrat. What’s new, right? And all I have heard from her and the police chief is apologies for how the police force has dealt with things over the past week.
Just words. Actually do something Mayor. PHX PD is notorious for this type of stuff.
Good gad, she’s channeling Lori Lightfoot.
I think there is more to the story then we are being told right now.
They are using this example to help justify rioting over that idiot car jacker brandon webber
It wasn’t just the child shoplifting but the police behavior was atrocious and illegal. It’s on video. It’s a lose-lose situation.
wreaks you wreak havoc
It is reeks. you have a bad odor....and so does your post.
After eight years of demonization from b Hussein obama, police are under attack from minorities so often that they tend to think about the best way to get home safely to their family.
How do you immediately put your hands up when police are screaming at you & you are holding an infant?
These police overreacted
If they were not crooks and shoplifters there would have been no guns drawn.
This is really very simple and requires little to no thought. Even libs should be able to think through this.
Dumb a$$es
I dont care what the hell is the excuse. If this happens to you, I’ll bet that attitude will change real quick.
But because it’s a black family, then you “understand” that they responded to a shoplifted dollar store doll in this manner? What a joke!
Wanna know why police are so agressive when approaching a vehicle no matter who is in it?
Sgt. Kelvin Ansari was killed when shots broke out after he and other officers were approaching a vehicle suspected as part of a robbery investigation.
Officer Jordan Sheldon, a K-9 officer, was shot during a routine traffic stop and died at a nearby hospital. The suspect fled but police traced him to his apartment, where they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Deputy Justin DeRosier was responding to a disabled vehicle when he was shot. He was flown to a hospital in Vancouver, Washington, where he died.
Deputy Peter Herrera was shot after pulling over a vehicle during a traffic stop. He died two days later.
Deputy Ryan Thompson was responding to a complaint about a motorist and attempted to stop the vehicle. But the driver wouldn’t stop and officers took off after him. After he eventually pulled over, the motorist got out of the car and opened fire on the officers. Both Thompson and the driver were killed in the ensuing shootout.
Sgt. Wytasha Carter was shot and killed outside a bar and another officer was critically wounded as they responded to a report about car break-ins and caught them in a vehicle.
Officer Natalie Corona was shot and killed after responding to a three-vehicle crash, from a stolen car.
These are not all I could have posted. Every one one of these is car related, and the police officer was killed. And these are not ancient history, they have happened this year and we aren’t even half way through the year. In the film, the officer held the gun to the car, when the family exited, the gun was lowered.
How many dead officers are considered collateral damage? Or does enlisting in the police department lower your status as a human?

“If they were not crooks and shoplifters there would have been no guns drawn.”
A dollar store Barbie, people. Enough of an excuse for some people here. But then we rage when the FBI raided Roger Stone’s house with massive displays of firepower?
Nope, what I am saying at all. Why would a kid do that unless they watched others in the act? There was no way in hell me or my siblings would have done this sort of thing.
Just my opinion.
Geeze. Stop being rude.
many children take things from stores when they are young. They dont quite have the concept of paying for items down and they want what they want.
You seem so accusatory and bitter.
