Corona police say 32-year-old Kenneth French from Riverside allegedly assaulted the unidentified officer inside the store on Friday night. Frenchs mother, Paula, and father, Russell, were also shot and critically wounded.
Both remained in critical condition at Riverside Community Hospital on Sunday but Frenchs cousin Rick Shureih told CBS2/KCAL9s Greg Mills his uncle was doing better (he had a breathing tube removed) but his aunt is still not out of the woods.
He said Kenneth had mental issues but nothing that ever made him violent. He told Mills that Kenneth was a big guy and because of his issues he had a blank look on his face.

My hunch is since it’s been reported by the family the decedent had mental issues and according to reports he assaulted the cop, it’s probably a safe bet he did assault the cop for whatever reason. And when the cop pulled his gun as a warning the decedent failed to heed that warning with all 3 family members jumping in attempting to disarm the guy with the gun. Did the cop announce he was a cop? I dunno.
Btw, the decedent appears to be about 6’6” and someone who could disarm a person rather easily unless he was stopped from doing so.
Costcos are not exactly empty.
I’d think there were a lot of witnesses.
Yep.
Like they did at Las Vegas?
Killed for having “resting bitchy face”?
Like they did at Las Vagas?
According to his family he was 6' even.
I suppose if you want to kill someone, it is as good of a reason as any.
He said Kenneth had mental issues but nothing that ever made him violent. He told Mills that Kenneth was a big guy and because of his issues he had a blank look on his face.
I would not consider someone 6' as being a "Big guy".
If the cameras exonerated the police we would have seen the video by now.
This is called ‘circling the wagons...
One of the early reports said the gunman was taken into custody =>
______
One person was killed and two others were injured when a gunman opened fire inside a Costco store in Southern California, authorities said. The suspected gunman was taken into custody and hospitalized. Police have not identified him.
I agree with you. It’s like everyone has forgotten about the little boy thrown over the rail at Mall of America by a homicidal nutjob.
Me neither, but one family member in at least 1 article said he was 6’ tall. Perhaps a burley 6’, but not 6’6” as one poster estimated.
That report is a day old. Most reports today did not report that.
Than again, we all know how screwed up those in the media are and how inaccurate they can be.
Based on the pic at #1, the decedent appears to be of medium build. Then again, who knows.....
I’m still waiting for that Nazi cop who murdered the poor terrified guy in the Arizona hotel hallway to be hung by the neck until dead.
JBT ping?
Possible scenario...young french goes to say hi and talk to cops kid...cop tells french to leave kid alone...french doesnt reply...cop threatens with gun...father and mother run to frenchs aid thinking lunatic has gun and is threatening french...cop interprets all this as a threat...and starts shooting....hopefully digital video and witnesses will get it correct...could all be a HUGE misunderstanding...if no provocation by young French.....cop in deep doodoo.
No, we would not. Costco would not want to release video of their customers being shot. The police would not want to voluntarily show video of their shooting of an entire family of unarmed shoppers. And lawyers from all sides would have a say in the matter. Also there is no generic right of the public to see every video.
Hmm. Perhaps the cop thought his parents were disguised dogs?
