Well according to Box Office Mojo this morning the recent Shaft movie starring Free Republic Fan Favorite Samuel L. Jackson BOMBED at the Box Office over the weekend.
Total Domestic Gross $8.3 Million. What a huge disappointment for the studio.
The last movie he was really good in was 1994's "Die Hard" picture.
Sam's mouth and ignorance have done him in so I am not surprised that this latest film flopped. It would have been better starring the original Shaft star Richard Roundtree. A better actor and star than Jackson.
They need to make a Homo version of the film and call it “Bent Shaft.”
People are getting sick of Hollywood retreads.
They better start getting original or they will continue to have these major bombs in the box office.
You see, that new “Shaft” movie is a baaad mutha.
Shut your mouth.
But I’m talking about new “Shaft”.
Then we can dig it.
Isn’t he a bit old for that role?
Surprised they didn’t make “Shaft” a female, that seems to be the go-to for Hollywood retread flops.
They should cast a white Shaft in the spirit of diversity.
Shaft receipts petered out, and the box office numbers went limp. The flaccid results will disappoint moviegoers and the producers.
He’s been type cast as a member of the comedy team of Jackson, Lee, and Barkley.

How many fathers want to go see “Late Night”? or “Ridiculously Overconfident Black women in Black”? or “Shaft”?
I actually felt like seeing a movie this weekend. But there was nothing out there.

You are 100% right, but your comment made me think of one case where it could be argued that a (formerly) great actor, over time, became nothing more than a caricature:
Robert DeNiro.
