Thailand?
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
It's SPORTS!
It's what you do.
Isn’t ANYONE teaching good sportsmanship anymore????
When you are winning by that much you put in your backup players with instructions to take as much time off the clock as possible... And then you thank the losing team for a good game.
You don’t humiliate them.
I’ll be happy to console any of those young Thai girls, however...
How f—king stupid.
Bracket ties are decided in the World Cup by the score differential. Hence why there is no mercy rule. It’s good football to run up the score as high as possible.
On the bright side, I’d like to congratulate America on reaching the Israeli status of “everything you do is wrong.” It’s definitely something we have in common.
Were there actually any women in the US women’s team?
I dunno man.
When I boxed, I didn’t care if I had 3 rounds won out of 4 or 2 out of 3.
If you still had stamina and strength left, I kept a distance but Still wanted to land as many punches as possible.
If you looked depleted to me, I was gonna try and knock your head into tomorrow.
Nothing was won yet, it was good practice for the next fight and Why take a chance?
Watching those women wildly celebrating after crushing an inferior opponent was reminiscent of the affect and behavior of a child crushing bugs.
A bad experience can be motivation to improve. It’s natural to want to avoid humiliation the next time.
They’re just mad that Americans won. Most other countries consider soccer to be THEIR sport. They think Americas are new on the international scene, and should play the humble student for a few years, vs trying to actually win.
Most think American dominates and influences their lives too much already, and should ‘be gracious’ just to watch the experts play from the shadows. Think again!! At least for the past 40 years, soccer has been growing, and is often played at schools. Some parents prefer it to what we call Football for their sons.
I agree that you have to run up the score given the tie breaker.
I dont think, however, that you have to be classless about it. They were classless and will only make their eventual defeat that much more of a comeuppance.
Oh and if they dont like the flag or anthem of the country that they are playing for, then why should I support them?
IMO, the concept of sportsmanship is lost. What they did was painful to watch. For those that are the “score as much as you can and not give a damn”, I would just say that we all have our standards. Mine are traditional to the point that you do not embarrass an opponent if you can help it. As for the coach and staff, there is a way to hit the brakes, and not only did they not do that, they also celebrated like they just won the cup. So, in truth, the USWNT lost many supporters last night. I am one.
Now America hating Megan Rapinoe is another story. She led the embarrassing behavior, even celebrating with sliding leg kicks in front the team bench when the score was like 9-0.
Our leagues were organized in two-year age brackets. That was my first year in the 11-12 age group. When I came back at the age of 12, about half the players from the prior season had moved on. We got a new bunch of 11 year-old kids who turned out to be some of the best players I've ever seen. Actually, they were more than that. They included some of the best players ANYONE had ever seen. Three of them went on to become All-State soccer players in high school, and one of them later played on the U.S. national team in the World Cup.
As a 12 year-old, I had the privilege of playing on a championship team that went 12-0 and thrashed every opponent the same way we had gotten our @sses kicked the prior season.
Go figure. Utter humiliation actually made me appreciate winning even more.
This knee taking dyke who seems to be front and center in all discussions on this sport (not a fan of soccer) has convinced me to not give a $h!t about this championship
Imagine the hue and outcry had an American opponent humiliated us, as we did to the Thais.
Did they all get their Participation Trophy? Did any have a penis?
So many unanswered questions.
