HERESY! You, my fellow FReeper, need a taste-bud adjustment. In the good ole days when I was young, I would eat a dozen at one sitting! BEST DOUGHNUTS EVER.

YES - must be hot. Never buy them in the box from Kroger or your local convenience store.

“Midnight Cownoy” was an X-rated movie. I doubt that’s what you meant, though.

Cowboy. Jeez. Does autocorrect just cause typos?

As a kid, I had a morning paper route and I typically got up at 3am. Along my route was a bakery that would open 4-5am. Sometimes I would stop for an early morning donut - still warm...and THE most delicious donuts I’ve ever eaten.

John Holmes was a major porno star of the 70s. Actually they say he made the medium mainstream, if that is at all what it is, and thanks a lot to him, Ugh.
He was made famous to the general public by the murders he got dragged into. See Wonderland the movie, pretty interesting.
Boy those were some really seedy days in NY.

When I was little my dad to me to a neighborhood Krispy Kreme to get them baked fresh. They would grab them right off the conveyor out of the oven. Doughnut Heaven! ❤ Maybe my memory is different. Or getting them that fresh with local ingredients was it. They haven't tasted that wonderful to me in years. But willing to try again. 🤩

Yes. Autocorrect causes typos

And on that criteria, yes, I would choose other donuts.. but fresh out of the fryer, nothing else comes close. You've obviously never had a hot, fresh Round Rock Donut, have you?

It sounds like you prefer a cake doughnut over a pastry doughnut. Ew ... no.

Ew ... no.
Well, if that is the case, I don't know where you find real pastry that tastes just as good the next day. I like doughnuts plenty, and KK is not shy about showing their process.
Compare this to Dunkin Donuts, which has recently been kind of embarrassed that they sell doughnuts, and shortened the name to Dunkin. They used to make good doughnuts, particularly their French Crueller. Now, most of their doughnuts are made outside Chicago and frozen, and the difference is obvious. I've had the Bess Eatons, Mr. Donut, Tim Horton's, Bosa's, and an array of ma and pa shops. I've never, ever had a pastry doughnut that didn't taste better fresh.

It was the first Hollywood movie to get an X-rating. Pretty tame though, hardly porn.
No, I always preferred the Times Square of my extreme youth to the Disney horror it is today. And don’t kid yourself, the same creeps are all over that area. I believe it must have been built on Indian burial ground!

Bob Ballaban still hangs around? I guess that recurring “Seinfeld” role kept him in New York quite a bit. ;)

Yeah, but the Wonderland murders were in LA.
Maybe I’ll watch that again.

DePalma’s”Greeting” and Polanski’s “ Rosemary’s Baby” we’re earlier. “Midnight Cowboy” was the first X rated film to recieve a Best Picture Academy Award.

Never been the Rotten Apple. When I was 12 or13 (1973)we took a family vacation to San Francisco. Dad made a point of driving through the red light district at night. Straight out of “Dirty Harry.”
