Animation companies are moving haltingly to promote women to key roles producing and directing the films and shows they make, according to a new study by the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative.
In the past 12 years, 3% of the directors of animated movies were women, and just one, Kung Fu Panda 2s Jennifer Yuh Nelson, was a woman of color. On the small screen, 13% of episodes from popular animated TV programs from 2018 had female directors, three of whom were women from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.
That lack of diversity was reflected in the stories unfolding across movie theaters, television, and mobile devices. Movies such as Moana and television shows such as Dora the Explorer have made headlines by focusing on female characters, but they remain the exception to the rule. Only 17% of the 120 top-grossing animated films from 2007 to 2018 had a female lead or co-lead, and just three of those movies boasted a woman of color as its protagonist.

This is how one turns statistics into lies and propaganda.
The assumption that this represents a problem is its fatal flaw.
How many women want to direct an animated movie? Statistically speaking women and men differ in the type of jobs they’d like to have.
For instance, I’m guessing that not many women want to be plumbers. I’d sure like to see a woman’s plumber’s crack.
Males dominate at first whether it is the moon landing, moving west or animated movies. But the best cartoon movies are already produced. So women will get the scraps.
Yes, now let us put more whites into that NFL.
So, 94% of animated movies MUST be pulled from circulation. It’s only fair.
And what if it turns out women only wanted to direct 3% of animated movies.
THEY AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH! !,
That’s it...I’m now going to cut my penis off to show solidarity.
That lack of diversity was reflected in the stories unfolding across movie theaters, television, and mobile devices.
I thought that producers and writers were the ones responsible for the content, and that the directors just...you know, DIRECTED!
Not many women pumping out septic tanks either. Whats up with that? The inequality is just so ugly.
When you think of it, it really doesn’t make a lot of sense. I mean in animation the sky’s the limit. They could drop ACME anvils on their heads, paint fake tunnels into mountains, and generally lay waste to men! They haven’t thought this through..
Women called “Moana” generally are more animated.
Paging the Boo Hoo girl!

Real choice for women, undermines the stated goals of feminism. They're calling it the Finnish Paradox.

It's even worse than that. Basketball was invented at a white Massachusetts college by a white physical education instructor to give his all-white students a way to play sports indoors during unfavorable weather (originally using peach baskets).
So, in accordance with the inviolable rules of Political Correctness, isn't every black basketball player committing Cultural Appropriation?
Shouldn't they be punished, or at least chastised for that hateful transgressions?
Exactly. So stupid.
Apparently, the people pushing this junk have never been to a convention of the nerdy sort (anime/gaming/etc.). Not very many women at those. If women aren’t common in the field, then women won’t become producers or directors. The percentage of producers and directors who are women probably reflects the number of them who participate in the field of animation.
With so many independent films, it’s women’s fault if they want to direct more.
