Dark Phoenix was not the X-Men movie that moviegoers were looking forward to: Critics showed that with a 22% Rotten Tomatoes score, while audiences demonstrated that both in exits (B- CinemaScore, lowest ever for the franchise, and an awful 69% positive on PostTrak) and with their wallets, only spending $33M stateside, the lowest debut ever for the Fox/Marvel mutant franchise.
Even though Dark Phoenix is the No. 1 winner around the globe with $140M down substantially from the worldwide launches of X-Men: Days of Future Past ($262.9M), Logan ($247.4M) and X-Men: Apocalypse ($166.6M), finance experts tell us that the tale of Jean Grey will burn out with an estimated $100M-$120M loss after ancillaries, off a combined production and P&A estimated cost of $350M+ (which includes reshoots). Final global B.O. is projected at $300M-$325M, with one film finance suit telling us If it drops like a stone, $285M. Dont forget it was a holiday in China, and even that was pretty low ($45.7M).

Same question really, with the exact same answer.
“The 2015 reboot sucked.”
It was truly awful. I expect the next reboot will much better.
Let us hope so, though Marvel seems intent on shoving their liberal politics into their entertainment nowadays.
I read that Dark Phoenix, Rocketman and another movie were not doing well.
The review of Rocketman said the movie focused on his homosexuality instead of his music and that’s why the movie is disappointing audiences.
I had Rocketman in my Netflix queue. Took it out.
Watched Vice (about Cheney) yesterday. The f-word was in the introductory writing that scrolled by. Unbelievable.
“Marvel lost me as a fan when they killed off Wolverine and Iron Man.”
Slightly different issue now.
Marvel is owned by Disney.
The X-Men, and mutants in general, are owned by Sony (I believe — different company, anyway).
She has nothing without GoT. Her career will be over in 3... 2...
“Let us hope so, though Marvel seems intent on shoving their liberal politics into their entertainment nowadays.”
I’m hard pressed to think of any examples of that in the Marvel Studio movies, but I haven’t seen Black Panther or Captain Marvel.
Personally, I’ve tuned out of most of the super-duper hero movies of late. Only went to “End Game” because my niece and nephew wanted to go. And it was, as I suspected, meh! I’ve already told my movie-going friends to count me OUT of “Star Wars 666: The SJW Fiasco” tripe that Disney has waiting for us the end of the year.
The problem with these movies is that every one is the same. Super Heroes meet Super Baddies, lots of CGI explosions and people on both sides getting blown up, killed, whatever. At the end, the Heroes APPEAR to win, but usually the Baddies just sneak away to plot their next movie destruction. Rinse, lather, repeat.
I think the last “Super Hero” movie I really enjoyed was the first “Guardians of the Galaxy”. Probably because it didn’t take itself too seriously, and wasn’t afraid to indulge in self-deprecating groaners and WTF characters. The sequel was okay, but not as good, IMHO.
I never cared about X-Men.
Oh well.
I thought “The Dark Knight” did an amazing job of taking comic book material and giving it an operatic feel.
But recent comic book movies have bored me.
Must be getting old.
The only comic book movie that improved in sequels is Ironman. Credit goes to it’s conservative Star actor.
The only super hero movie I liked was Guardians of the Galaxy, and that was because it had a talking raccoon. Not even a talking raccoon could save Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
I thought Flesh Gordon was pretty good.
“Yes, Your Assholiness.”
I'll see it (on DVR not theaters) only to see how true it is to the comic book story arc.
Those are the two that came to mind. I've seen Black Panther, (Free. Didn't spend any money on it.) and it had a lot of Super Duper Women Warrior princesses in it, and a little bit of anti-white racism. The plot wasn't very good, and the main character kept getting upstaged by the main super duper warrior princess. All in all, it wasn't a very good portrayal of the black panther character.
I saw him in "Civil War", and he was great, but he seemed greatly marginalized in "Black Panther."
I haven't seen Captain Marvel, and I don't intend to see it, but I have read quite a lot about it from those who have, and i'm familiar with the Brie bitch putting her politics out there, so I don't want to give her a cent of my money.
I simply have no interesting in seeing little women beat up men. It's fantasy crap that is extremely contrary to real life, and i'm not going to indulge any of it.
Well, Hugh Jackman is 50 years old, he requested for them to kill him off because I don’t think he wants to be stuck as Wolverine when he’s 60.
I thought it was essential to a Hollywood starlet’s career to come out with virtue-signalling BS like this. You won’t get far in Hollywood unless you establish your woke, progressive credentials. Ask James Woods what has happened to his career since he started being so outspoken abuot his Conservative beliefs on twitter.
But always wondered why the crashed space shuttle was left in Jamaica Bay until Avengers #263 and Fantastic Four 286
