Everest is probably the most populous cemetery of all the world’s major peaks. Reverence those who tried and perished, but don’t be surprised. It’s high-altitude mountaineering, not badminton — and thank your lucky stars you’re not on K2.
Maybe sheep.
Sheep will follow the lead sheep into mud holes, over high creek embankments and any other danger spot.
The saying about sheep: They are just looking for a way to die.
I read yesterday that they had hauled 12 TONS of GARBAGE, and 11 CORPSES (IIRC) off the mountain. I think to call THAT pristine, is a crock.
Just my opinion.
What would you have him do?
The climbers he passed were already dead. He couldn't have brought the bodies back down from that altitude if he tried. Passing the corpses of climbers is, at this point, a given for everyone who summits Everest.
Everest is becoming very unpopular now that all the crowds are showing up. /j
Passing corpses is a given. That my FRiend is the problem.
It’s named Ever-rest. That should be the first clue.
Theres’a a mountain(s) called Twin Sisters Peaks. I see them driving west in northern Colorado. Them there’s some Teats!
Lucky for him they hadn’t turned yet. A la “Climbing Dead”.
They are probably frozen to the ground too. And they would have to be hauled out. Who is going to do that?
Those lost souls will be perfect for whomever lives 20,000 years in the future after the next ice age ends to analyze and dissect and try to understand why someone would be that foolish to climb a frozen mountain.
Not on Everest, but another large body count in one avalanche:
Climbers Presumed Dead on Flanks of Nanda Devi East
A helicopter search spotted five bodies in avalanche debris

A week and a half after they were last heard from, eight mountaineers attempting the unclimbed Peak 6477 on the flanks of 24,389-foot Nanda Devi East in the Indian Himalaya are now presumed dead. On June 3 a helicopter search conducted by the Indian military reported five bodies in avalanche debris close to the expeditions last known camp at around 17,700 feet. The other three missing climbers are also assumed to have been killed in the slide.
You probably drive by dozens of houses where people have died every day on your way to work.
Did you climb Everest?
Yup—me and my bridge club.
No kidding. I am all for making a buck, but those people “guiding” them and the Nepalese government are just being stupid.
When you are at 25K+ feet on low oxygen, your brain is dying. I think the whole thing is crazy.
There are dead bodies up there that climbers have been stepping over for 60 years. Look up ‘green boots on everest’.
What a great post and needed reminder.
