Someday the little girl will learn about her hero father in Heaven.
This is so sad. No words can describe my sorrow for this family.
Iowa father (33) dies of heart attack while fighting off dog attack.
No dog breed mentioned. Probably goes without saying
The story doesn’t mention whether the dog was a pitbull but I would lay odds that it was. The owner ought to be prosecuted.
I can guess, but will I be correct?
Risk at 89%.
Michael Vick gets his full pension, right?
Guessing it must have been a miniature black and tan Dachsund. Right?
Or the deadly pug
No the dog was probably a "migrant" or an "undocumented worker" and yes the owner should be convicted of manslaughter or negligent homicide or whatever the legalese is for causing an unintentional death by his/her actions.
I wonder how often dog owners are successfully prosecuted for negligent homicide when their dog mauls someone to death. Probably not often enough.
As far as I'm concerned an incompetent dog owner whose dog kills someone is just as responsible for the death as a drunk or incompetent driver is for vehicular homicide (i.e. involuntary manslaughter conviction).
“No dog breed mentioned. Probably goes without saying”
They do the same for people’s breed.
This is so very tragic and unnecessary.
Did not say the breed but NOBODY needs to keep an aggressive dog that is not chained or confined. They are not pets.
And they should not be allowed in neighborhoods.
With 500 acres of your own, completely walled in, okay—have one of these vicious beasts.
But that we still allow the circumstances that lead to stuff like this is criminal.
Anecdotal evidence to support your theory - some years ago one of my wife's co-workers lived in an apartment complex a couple of miles from here. One night she parked her car and was headed to her apartment when two dogs unsecured in the bed of a pickup jumped out and mauled her severely (over 400 stiches) The pickup belonged to a "boyfriend" of one of the other denizens of the apt complex and she got amnesia as to who he was, where he lived, etc. Because no police or county officials were hurt the police dropped the investigation after taking statements and no one was ever arrested for the attack.
However, the usual number of speed traps were maintained after the incident showing that the county kept to its proper priorities (extorting money our of the citizens rather than tracking down real threats)
This is so very tragic and unnecessary.

The sad thing is, a lot of owners of pit mixes honestly believe that they have very lovable and loyal animals. That is because these dogs are very different animals inside the homes of families. Once they are out, and free, the become very aggressive, and the sad part is, the smaller the person (child), the more aggressive they get. They need zero provocation. The owners have zero f’n clue what they are capable of
Amish dog?
Most men would willingly die to protect their children. Unfortunately, too many fathers today are not men.
I hope she grows up always knowing that her father was a man.
Lord have Mercy!
Eternal rest grant unto
Robert Joseph Quick
O Lord,
may his soul and all the souls
of the faithfully departed
through the Mercy of God
rest in peace.
