If Seeing the World Helps Ruin It, Should We Stay Home?
NY Times ^ | June 3, 2019 | Andy Newman

The glaciers are melting, the coral reefs are dying, Miami Beach is slowly going under. Quick, says a voice in your head, go see them before they disappear! You are evil, says another voice. For you are hastening their destruction. To a lot of people who like to travel, these are morally bewildering times. Something that seemed like pure escape and adventure has become double-edged, harmful, the epitome of selfish consumption. Going someplace far away, we now know, is the biggest single action a private citizen can take to worsen climate change. One seat on a flight from New York to Los Angeles effectively adds months worth of human-generated carbon emissions to the atmosphere.

NY Times earns a lot of money from its Travel section and advertising high end tourism. Of course, the Left can assuage their guilt by the modern day equivalent of purchasing indulgences, so called carbon offsets.

Yes, the little people should stop traveling. Only our “betters” should enjoy that privilege.

Another NYTimes article decidedly short on facts.

If the Democrats could only be convinced that mass suicide would save the planet, the world would be a better place.

Boy they would really hate me. On a typical summer weekend I’ll make a 56 mile round trip to fly my gas powered RC planes for the afternoon! I wonder how much arctic ice I get to melt? I feel no guilt though. None.

I'll tear up the woods behind my house in my Jeep to find somewhere I can denude the forest with my gas powered chainsaw, bring the firewood back home and release all that pent up carbon in a bonfire, roasting non-vegetarian hot dogs.

One thing no Climate Change ‘expert’ has ever explained . . if ice is denser than water, how does water levels rise when ice melts?

I live two miles from the ocean in Boca Raton. The Atlantic on one side, the Gulf on the other and an enormous Lake in between. In 29 years I still have not seen ONE INCH of rising water. And somehow droughts also occur at times . . the beaches are the same. I would fear an earthquake a heck of a lot more than the possibility of ice melting.

This is just too accurate for a joke...

We did a short Alaska cruise, 10 days and when we got to the Glacier Bay cruise by I read the brochure put out by the National Park Service. They brought two lecturers on board to speak as we sailed by the glaciers.

The speakers AND the brochure both pointed out that those glaciers have been melting for centuries. Actual pictures...of then and now.

Instead of blaming “man”, they cited natural causes like dirt on the ice that absorbed more sun etc.

New Yorkers fear the world. They fear going somewhere they will lose total control and their New York provincial values

Conde Nast got rich pandering to these fears. He sent them to places that were New York miles and miles away.
