The InBetween/Vanity

Posted on 06/03/2019 8:07:03 AM PDT by Allen In Texas Hill Country

So I finally started watching some of the summer shows. I'm not into psychics but I thought I'd give the show, The InBetween, a view. Its a cop show where this one cop (the star) has a psychic on the side helping him figure out cases. As I found it mildly entertaining I started watching close keeping up with the plot. Then about 20-30 minutes in, the cop goes to this house and nearly runs over and plants a quick smooch on his other. His other being another fellow taller than him. It took me about 5 seconds to hit STOP, another 5 seconds to decide to erase all recordings and the entry in the record list. From my point of view the whole damn show was about two guys kissing on screen. I do watch a lot of TV and that was/is the first time for me. I have nothing against gays but I find it hugely distracting to see interaction among them ruining a show.

And since I got started,,,, I have nothing against blacks. Find some of them very entertaining. The boss on Chicago Fire is one of my favorites. Have nothing against females either. But why in the hell now is everybodys boss a black female? I could probably list 4 or more shows that when somebodies boss comes outta the woodwork its a black female.

Lastly,,,,, Theres gotta be another NCIS watcher here at FR besides me. Anyway wow, Cota de Pablo (?) makes an entrance in the closing scene. For those that don't watch, she was a VERY popular member of the team until she and the producers could not agree on the financials of a new contract. That was 3, 4, or 5 years ago. She was very missed. Now what happens in Sept?

Every single show seems to take a hard left now. I turn them off too. Is there really and audience for all this crap?

If a space alien knew nothing about America other than what he saw on TV commercials, he'd think that half the people in the country are black and that they all live in upscale neighborhoods.

Not worth it, is it.

Mainstreaming belief in psychic stuff is as bad as mainstreaming the other stuff.

So, was Cote de Pablo on The In Between or Chicago PD? Your post was not clear.

"Mainstreaming belief in psychic stuff is as bad as mainstreaming the other stuff."

The last show I regularly watched was "The Mentalist," in which the main character was a former stage "psychic" who was hired as a consultant by the police. He personally did not believe in ESP, but relied on keen observation and understanding of human nature. Some of the more entertaining episodes were when he tangled with people who claimed to be real psychics.

“But why in the hell now is everybodys boss a black female?”

Blacks, females, lesbian, black lesbians, gay black males...there are a whole plethora of identity groups from which to choose a boss in a tv show.

Still haven’t seen any orientals or even Hispanics in those roles.

I started watching Downton Abbey, a show that has received stellar reviews over the years. Season 1, Episode 1...I wouldn’t say it was great, but it was definitely worth watching....until I got to the scene with two guys kissing. I turned it off and decided I’m not going to watch it.

Same thing happened with the show Empire. I found it watchable, and even though it was clear Jusse’s character was gay, I could tolerate it until, several episodes in, he got to smooching with another guy. That was it for me.

Like you, I can tolerate characters being gay, but watching homos kissing is repulsive to me.

You would’ve loved the action in “How to Get Away With Murder”. I had to stop watching it.

I second Polar on Netflix. The 3rd season of Broadchurch is sucking hard. I enjoyed the first season of Goliath on Amazon. Jack Ryan too.

Sorry. She was in the closing scene of the last show this season of NCIS. In previous episodes Gibbs was having hallucinations (some guilt problems) of another lady so in this last episode all are wondering if Ziva was a hallucination. No, it wasn’t says me!!! And what happens in Sept.

I will have to ask my wife about it. She still watches NCIS (which I feel jumped the shark years ago). I did think Ziva’s death was handled in a pretty bogus way. Even more bogus was the love child between Ziva and Tony. After years of the fans clamoring for a romance between the two, they try to come up with a love story between them as each actor left the show. When Tony said to McGee after Ziva’s death “I loved her Tim”, it was one of the blandest, most insincere-without-feeling line readings I have ever heard.
