Todays Cryptogram
E RGIC TN HIAIS VTHTNBIY, GHFQ EKEHYGHIY. ---REJF AEFISQ
Todays CG is courtesy of the Arkansas Gazette.
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: brain; cryptogram; puzzle; todayscryptogram
If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.
Solving the puzzle under 8 minutes is good, under 6 very good, under 4 excellent and under 2 "you're a pro!"
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Solution to our last puzzle:
THERE IS MORE STUPIDITY THAN HYDROGEN IN THE UNIVERSE, AND IT HAS A LONGER SHELF LIFE. ---FRANK ZAPPA

Zipped right through, except for the second word "RGIC". Even with the two middle letters, it took a process of elimination before I figured out what it was. Three minutes or so without that second word ... another minute to figure it out.
Never heard of the author ... luckily, the last name came out completely from all of the other words. The first name came out with three of four letters and, as a result, was easily filled in.

3 min. First word is one letter long so is easy to guess, 50% chance; in conjunction with 3rd word by grammar.
4th word is notable for letters 2-3-4.
Get those and you’re off to the races...

Good job. I didnt think it was that easy...
Took a leap of faith with the fourth word HIAIS. With that, the words just seemed to leap from the page ... EXCEPT, as I said, that darned second word ...

Fifteen minutes. I struggled a little bit trying to figure out what followed the one-letter word, but then I got "HIAIS" and the rest flowed from there.
