One thing for sure - driving isn't as fun as it used to be. Also, I notice that 16 y/o boys are not nearly as excited to get their driver's license as in the past.

Sadly, we are still far far from Peak Idiot ... the DNC will continue to thrive.

When you’re paying about $5,000/year in insurance, because you’re 18, what’s there to be excited about?

I’m sure the convenience of rideshare services like Uber and Lyft is a factor in this. Being an Uber driver myself, this means more business for me. For example, there was a Paul McCartney concert in my hometown last night, and I’m cheaper than downtown parking for an event like that.

Washington regulations have strangle the fun of driving and uber and lyft have made owning a vehicle to get around nearly obsolete.

Plus computer systems in car and “soy boys” have murdered the next generation of “backyard mechanics”

My nephew shrugs hes shoulders when I ask him if he’s excited to get his driver’s license.

Whatever happened to peak oil?

The article is BS.

Weak economies around the world are hurting demand.

China is the world’s largest car market and their stock market peaked in 2007.

The population isn’t shrinking so more cars will be needed.

I'm increasingly seeing this in the military. People are showing up to their commands fresh out of boot camp and A-school; 18, 19, 20 years old and have no driver license or even know how to drive. This is a problem because I need them to drive pickup trucks and duty vans in the performance of their jobs.

Too much work when mommy can drive you around and accept the responsibility.

Around 2029-2030 people will call an Uber that has no driver. Autonomous cars will be the norm.

Most new cars have been made boring by regulation and lack of imagination.

If only auto manufacturers had the foresight to build in planned obsolescence.

Manufacturers can take some of the blame for making cars ridiculously expensive to repair. You have to completely remove the body from some trucks for even simple repairs. Cars are getting just as bad. some cars require the removal of the engine to replace a water pump. Don’t even get me started on sensors. They have a sensor for everything and half the time the only thing the sensor warns you about is that the sensor isn’t working right, then it costs a bunch of money to get the stupid warning light to go out. I’d rather just check my own tire pressure, thank you very much. Cars have become a huge pain in the butt. My next car will be an older one.

I have two Corvettes a 92 and 2009 by Grandson has never taken an interest in either one. When I was going up in Dearborn my 57 Chevy was almost as good as sex, almost.

About 1.7 million less cars were made in the world in 2018. 1.2 million of that loss was in Communist China.

Big deal.

A production loss in a communist country doesn't necessarily reflect on trends in the free world.

For example, Auto production in the US, Japan and India was up.

The birth rate is dropping in developed world. Fewer young people to drive cars. Senior citizens will need less cars since they live in retirement communities.
