Barr Says Mueller Was Wrong, ‘Could’ve Reached a Decision’ on Obstruction

Attorney General William Barr said that special counsel Robert Mueller was wrong when Mueller said he could not recommend charging President Donald Trump with a crime if enough evidence existed. Mueller, speaking for the first time since the submission of his report to Barr, claimed on May 29 that his team’s avoidance of a traditional prosecutorial decision—a recommendation to press charges or not—was due to Department of Justice policy. “Under long-standing Department policy, a President cannot be charged with a federal crime while he is in office. That is unconstitutional. Even if the charge is kept under seal and hidden from public view—that too is prohibited,” Mueller said, citing the department’s Office of Legal Counsel.

Of course he wrong, or more likely, chicken. His job included crimes committed during the investigation. All he had to do was say his opinion was that such and such statute was broken.

Regarding the opinions on whether a sitting President can be indicted, the prevailing opinion seems to be that one can’t, and according to Dershowitz, a sitting President can’t even commit obstruction of a Special Counsel, it does not apply.

How the hell can anyone be guilty of obstruction for a false charge?

You mean defending yourself "out loud" against a "witch Hunt" is a crime?

The key word/ red herring is ‘indicted’

Correct.

But his job was not to ‘indict’

His job was to refer the charges to congress to impeach !

House decides to charge

Senate holds the trial.

Muller made a complete ass of himself with that red herring !

If Trump is guilty of obstruction for firing Comey, shouldn't Rosenstein be indicted for recommending Comey be fired?

If Trump had intent to obstruct for wanting to fire Mueller, then isn't Rosenstein's letter recommending Comey be fired even more intent to obstruct because it's written down?

I agree with Barr. He sure could have come to a conclusion on obstruction. I believe he did but would not absolutely say so, so as not to infuriate the democrats. He is trying to slip away quietly, without any dissention.

“Barr Says Mueller Was Wrong, ‘Could’ve Reached a Decision’ on Obstruction”

FYI, BF Media did not put quotation marks around “wrong”.

If Barr had said that, they would have done so.

We know absolutely that he is not guilty of obstruction because he fired Comey. Comey even said in his memos...and more than once...that the President could fire him at anytime and didn’t need a reason.

Never-Trumper Judge Nap just said on Brett Baier that Mueller could have charged Trump on anyone of the 12 obstruction areas because Trump obstructed justice on each one. Why Trump still pays this CNN stooge I’ll never know. I’ll take Alan Dersherwich’s opinion any day of the week over Napolitano.

I think this is the most important statement he made:

Barr was also asked about Mueller seeming to suggest that Congress continue the investigation, which lasted for about two years and cost tens of millions of dollars.

“I’m not sure what he was suggesting,” Barr said. “But the Department of Justice doesn’t use our powers of investigating crimes as an adjunct to Congress.”

Illegals by the thousands, we know nothing about, pouring into our country via open borders... this illegal “investigation” going on for years... the hate/anger and lying going on in the name of political.. the good man we voted in as President and the other side who are hell bent on destroying everything rather than accept our choice of President... the evil that is taking form and possession of our country through the democratic party... they won’t even fix the border... they stop everything they can.. they turn the country upside down... they lost their power and want it back at any price.... regardless of an election and the astounding job Trump has done....

In other words... they are taking this country and throwing it to the dogs... a man willing to sacrifice to save us all and they are determined to cause trouble until we have lost it all!

“could fire him at anytime and didn’t need a reason”

Everyone forgets...he already had a reason: Rosenstein recommended it in his memo.

Among many.

By doing his presser and flatly stating that the report is his testimony, and that he would not answer any questions, Mr. Mueller is saying he is above the law.

But Nancy told us no one is above the law.

Kinda a conundrum.

Barr means that Mueller COULD HAVE COME TO A DECISION.

The decision Mueller should have made was... NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO INDICT. Which was the decision Barr and Rosenstein came to. They had the courage to say...not enough evidence. Simply put.

He did not have the cajones to make that decision.

Strongly disagree with today’s joint DoJ/OSP statement that Mueller’s statement didn’t conflict with that of AG Barr.
