Bill Gates downplays renewable energy: “Do you guys on Wall Street have something in your (T)

Cheap renewables won’t stop global warming, says Bill Gates

“Electricity is just 25 percent of greenhouse gas emissions,” said Gates. “There is no substitute for how the industrial economy runs today.”

When financial analysts proposed rating companies on their CO2 output to drive down emissions, Gates was appalled by the idea that the climate and energy problem would be easy to solve. He asked them: “Do you guys on Wall Street have something in your desks that makes steel? Where is fertilizer, cement, plastic going to come from? Do planes fly through the sky because of some number you put in a spreadsheet?”

“The idea that we have the current tools and it’s just because these utility people are evil people and if we could just beat on them and put (solar panels) on our rooftop—that is more of a block than climate denial,” Gates said. “The ‘climate is easy to solve’ group is our biggest problem.”

Similarly, he knocked down the idea that natural gas replacing coal for generating electricity is helping solve the energy and climate problem.

“The goal is not to take a bow because you use natural gas,” which emits half the carbon dioxide of coal, Gates said. “That contributes zero! In fact, because the forcing function is sooner on natural gas, converting coal to natural gas for the next 50 years and then shutting it down, that’s a net addition” to emissions.

I think the ecowankers are actually clueless about just how much of their daily lives revolve around energy products and by products. As evidenced by their means of getting to protest down to the clothes and equipment they use. Fidiots would be a kind description.

Nice to see Bill Gates back in the arena using his brain rather than just jetting around the world giving money away...it's about time...

Bill Gates understands the technology to support warmists delusions doesn’t exist yet... That’s an important insight for brain-dead liberals to absorb...

So easy a liberal techie can figure it out.

Gates may right about nuclear. My rocket fuel and nuclear scientist BiL (also a lib enviro) says if you are serious about emission reduction nuclear is the only hope. He also HATES wind power.

Yeah, I liked the day they put 700 kayaks (made from oil) into SF bay to protest oil production. Most were also wearing windbreakers made from oil, and of course their kayak paddles are also made from oil.

It was an oil orgy that protested oil!

I own stock in this company:) Just watch the traveling wave.

100% correct.

Here’s what i like to suggest to the carbon Luddites:

You carbon Luddites could solve the problem you’ve created by ALL of you simply not using ANY carbon based energy or carbon based products.

No natural gas to heat your houses, no gasoline for your cars, no electricity from coal or NG for your houses, no medicines, clothing or soaps made from petroleum or NG, nothing that was hauled in a truck or train that runs on carbon fuel, no lubricants made from petroleum, and no products that contain plastic.

Also, no plumbing which uses smelted copper pipes or plastic pipes. No wiring which uses smelted copper with plastic insulation. No nails, screws, or rebar from smelted iron or recycled steel.

No cement made by burning coal, oil or NG used in your concrete and mortar. No glass made via energy-intensive methods.

No sheetrock made in factories run by electricity and made from gypsum mined and hauled to the factor via machines run with diesel. No lumber cut and milled with machines run by gasoline and electricity and dried in kilns fired by natural gas. No brick made from mined clay and fired in kilns fired with natural gas.

No electric cars made with rare-earth magnets refined with fossil energy.

No electronics made with elemental materials refined with fossil energy and manufactured with electrically driven machinery.

No synthetic fabrics made from petroleum or NG. No clothing manufactured with electrically driven machinery.

No medications manufactured from petroleum or NG derived chemicals.

And none of this stuff is to be hauled to your with trucks run with gasoline or diesel. And no earth moved or dug with earth-moving machines run by diesel. And none of any of the machines mentioned above can be with or from or by products derived from coal, gas, and oil.

whoever has the climate change ping, John Casey’s documentary “Dark winter’ is going to be aired at 9PM Central on Newsmax.

DirecTV channel 349
Dish 265 I think,

Excellent documentary, I’ve watched it several times.

Thanks rktman. Also, since the US is such a horrible producer of climate change, it behooves EVERYONE to support a ZERO IMMIGRANTS POLICY, and to do so IMMEDIATELY.
