May 27, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) Speaking with one of the best-known conservative Jews, Dennis Prager, at the PragerU summit last week, world-famous psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke of God and his views of faith. After speaking about his dislike for the question Do you believe in God? Peterson said, I think that Catholicism that's as sane as people can get.
Peterson has often been asked about his faith, if he believes in God, and he said the question has always troubled him. He promised a podcast on the matter since he has given his dislike for the question much thought.
He explained, Who would have the audacity to claim that they believed in God if they examined the way they lived? Who would dare say that?
To believe, in a Christian sense, he added, means that you live it out fully and that's an that's an unbearable task in some sense.
Then in one long drawn-out, rapid-fire thought, the type that has enthralled his millions of fans, he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:
To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.

Sorry I missed your point.. But my point still holds. Church withstands all sorts of attacks from without and within and yet survives.
I personally am thankful that we have such a church.
So tell me about your kids.
Aww I just hate talking about my kids because I'm so humble.
Riiiiiight.
Willful ignorance at its most refined!
With no living Apostle the writings The Holy Spirit inspired from them IS THE ONLY reliable source of authority. The traditions of men is exactly one of the pins upon which JESUS condemned the Pharisees.
As far as I can see, Peterson is reluctant to speak of faith because he knows he doesn't know enough about it.
A rare quality, knowing one's limitations.
We are very fortunate to have such a great man in our midst.
.......................................
Does that mean we dont need to understand and follow any of the teachings found in the Bible?
If one is following Christ, one is going to do what He says.
Want to know Him better? You have to read His Word and be in prayer to God.
If one were to read the Bible, you might understand the answer to your question.
All of those are attacking the Church RIGHT NOW, more damagingly than ever because they've got their wolves inside the sheepfold.
You haven't noticed that more Catholics have been martyred over the past 70 years, than in any previous century or all previous centuries together?
Take a careful look.
Tick-tock. What time is it?
John noted in two places we have the written word so we can believe.
Scripture is the one constant that does not change.
Realism is realizing who we are in the overall scheme of things. That would be: little bitty earthen vessels. Humility.
Realizing is acknowledging what we can do without relying on God. That would be: nothing. Humility.
Realism is admitting God’s ways are not our ways, nor are Gods thoughts our thoughts. That would be: as far as the heavens are above the earth, so far are His ways above our ways, and His thoughts above our thoughts. Humility.
Conflating The Church made up of ALL BELIEVRS in Jesus as their Lord and Savior across time, with the institutional Org known as Catholicism is a form of deception.
My YOPIOS is usually different from others YOPIOS. I am comfortable with that. 👍
As far as I know, every believer in Christ is in some way in the Catholic (or, if you prefer, catholic), universal Church. If that bothers you, well: Hello, brother in Christ.
When Jesus spoke that to His disciples, He was referring specifically to the 'works of righteousness which God has ordained that we should walk in'. It is specifically to Christians that we can accomplish nothing in our working outward of own salvation that fails without Him, His Spirit in us allowed to 'weed the garden'.
Too many men and women believe they are accomplishing much striving to obtain eternal life by fealty to sacraments and rituals without aiming their will to rely on Only Jesus Alone for their deliverance. Islam is a strong example of that ... not referring to the terrorist embedded in Islam. Sadly, Catholicism is another example of that same stumbling.
How silly, woman. I am not bothered by truth, only sly deception.
Christ is the word become flesh, the embodiment of God's divine revelation to mankind.
TRUTH
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 15:26 But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
2 Corinthians 4:2 But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.
2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
1 John 4:6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
1 John 5:6 This is he who came by water and bloodJesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
True, but I’d bet we’re in far more agreement on the issues than our RC friends!
Faith is not complicated.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
You either believe God.
Or you don't.
The fact that Catholicism has made it so complicated just goes to show how far off the rails they have gone.
