GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is an All-Monster Attack (Review)
The Nerdist ^ | May 28, 2019 | Kyle Andersn

About two-thirds of the way through the 1964 movie Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, a larval Mothra convinces a bickering Godzilla and Rodan to help her to face the movie’s titular dragon. It’s a moment fans of Toho’s giant monster movies long waited for. That it exists in a movie where a princess is possessed by the spirit of a Venusian emissary and is the target of Yakuza attacks makes the monster team-up almost secondary. In contrast, Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters will never once let you forget the reason you’re in the theater. Heeding the words of Dr. Serizawa, he let them fight.

After the Big, G, my fave is Rodan. I think he’s cuddly.

George : Beautiful women . You know they could get away with murder. You never she any of them lift anything over three pounds. They get whatever they want whenever they want it . You can’t stop them.

Jerry : She’s like a beautiful Godzilla .

George : Without thousands of fleeing Japanese.

I remember people insisting that the 2014 Godzilla would be soooooooooooo much better than the 1998 version with Matthew Broderick.

Then I decided to sit down and watch both American Godzilla movies back to back.

Neither film was good, but the 1998 one at least had a campy, fun quality to it. The 2014 version was a waste of time after Bryan Cranston died. Godzilla also got about 25 minutes screentime in his own movie. Should have been titled "MUTOs: The Movie, with a Special Guest Appearance from Godzilla"

Had a similar reaction after seeing the "so much better" JJ Abrams Star Wars compared to the George Lucas prequels.

If you haven't and get a chance, watch the original Japanese version, Gojira , then the Raymond Burr version back to back. I love both for different reasons. That's my idea of a great movie night.

Are they going to use Blue Oyster Cult’s song “Godzilla” as the them song?

Here's one of the monsters they cut out of the movie. I wish they would have left it in. On the other hand, this beast might have been too scary for younger children.

Me too.

“Godzilla” was my favorite movie as a kid. I’m looking forward to this one and I’m taking my kids.

He’s old enough - 54. He’s got the looks and the name recognition. I say go for it!

I just watched the trailer and I agree. He must have ate quite well prior to his last hibernation period.

The 1998 version made a terrible strategic mistake, by having Godzilla sneak and slither around. Godzilla just stands up and stomps everything. Could not stand him sneaking around.

I had a plastic Godzilla model when I was a kid. My neighbor buddy had a King Kong model. We had lots of arguments over who would win in a fight between them.

I still think Godzilla would take him. One fire-breath is all it takes — singe all the hair off the ape, make him look like a baboon’s butt all over.

Jeez! Would just one Godzilla movie have that song in it somewhere?

Well, that’s a bigger rating than I would give to that 2014 “Godzilla” movie. Let’s hope Godzilla makes more than a cameo appearance. If you want to see a pretty good “G” flick, check out the 2016 “Shin Godzilla.”

I agree with you about the Star Wars Lucas prequels and I think the second prequel was the best of all 3.(as long as you could cut Christiansen out of all of it). Ewan McGregor was actually fantastic as a young OBI-Wan and he really needed his own movie free of all the other drek.

Well Ewan, we hardly knew ye!

You would think. They play Black Sabbath’s Iron Man in those movies!

Godzilla

Blue Öyster Cult

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down
Helpless people on a subway train

Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them
He picks up a Camaro and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town

Oh no, they say he’s got to go go go Godzilla
Oh no, there goes Tokyo go go Godzilla

History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men
