GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is an All-Monster Attack (Review)
The Nerdist ^ | May 28, 2019 | Kyle Andersn

Posted on 05/29/2019 9:04:05 AM PDT by C19fan

About two-thirds of the way through the 1964 movie Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, a larval Mothra convinces a bickering Godzilla and Rodan to help her to face the movie’s titular dragon. It’s a moment fans of Toho’s giant monster movies long waited for. That it exists in a movie where a princess is possessed by the spirit of a Venusian emissary and is the target of Yakuza attacks makes the monster team-up almost secondary. In contrast, Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters will never once let you forget the reason you’re in the theater. Heeding the words of Dr. Serizawa, he let them fight.

Been a huge fan of the Godzilla movies since I was a kid. My kid and I already have tickets for Thursday night and can’t wait!

Ditto here. Loved watching Godzilla flicks on the ABC New York afternoon movie of the day, WPIX and WOR.

Been a ‘Zilla fan since about age 6. My wife would argue I’m still age 6.

It looks from the trailer that like in 2014 almost all action takes place in the dark of night.

They do this to hide the bad cgi and it ruins the movie because you can’t see anything (especially if you watch it on a TV at home)

Just put a guy in a rubber suit already

The Big Guy is looking a little pudgy. He could use some exercise.

“They do this to hide the bad cgi and it ruins the movie because you can’t see anything (especially if you watch it on a TV at home)”

Yeah, that’s certainly the case. From the trailers I’ve seen, the “special effects” aren’t really much better than they were in the Godzilla films from the 60’s.

Yeah, I remember that one. It was so dark I couldn't tell what was happening much of the time.

When the Big G was played by a guy in a rubber suit, Godzilla had personality. It’s the anthropomorphism that made the character. That CGI’d wannabe has all the personality of a pet rock.

Bring back the rubber suit.

Gorilla - GOrira
Whale - kuJIRA

Whale + gorira = Go jira = “Godzilla”

plus, he comes from the ocean, and stuff.

So, yeah.

Whoa. Sounds like you're gonna need a scorecard on this one.
