You might think that an Amazon #1 bestseller -- as Mark Levins ninth book has become -- would merit serious reviews from serious people. Obviously, NPRs choice of Annalisa Quinn, a sometimes contributor to The New York Times, is immediately suspect. Conflict of interest much?
As one might have guessed from minute zero, Quinns review of Unfreedom of the Press is not about Levins book, but undermining its premise through insult, not argument.
Beginning with ad hominem attacks and ending with emotional diatribes, Quinns review of an academically documented and nonfiction bestseller is an outrage, but -- as Levin has carefully outlined -- easy to predict..
The first two paragraphs of Quinns review do not, of course, touch upon the book itself.
They are instead meritless and poisonous attacks on the author. Excoriating the writer before even touching upon the content is the mark of an unserious reviewer. Further, Quinns characterization of Levin -- in the very first sentence of the review -- as fringe betray her inability to objectively review any book.
Consider: does a fringe character:
Serve eight years in the Reagan administration, including as Attorney General Ed Meeses Chief of Staff? Mount the first great defense of the inner-city education system via charter schools, using the teachings of the great economist Milton Friedman? Lead a major legal foundation (Landmark Legal) intended to defend the Constitution as our Framers intended? Without any formal media training, build one of largest radio network audiences in radio history (more than 10 million weekly listeners)? Write nine (9) New York Times bestsellers in a row?
If thats fringe, what the hell is Annalisa Quinn (if that is her real name)?
But the key question I have for Quinn is: why did you somehow skip Chapter One of Levins book?
In Chapter One of Unfreedom of the Press, Levin describes two interesting phenomena:
The incestuous rotation of media personalities into and out of Democrat administrations (featuring George Stephanopoulos, Jake Tapper and Chuck Todd) The increasing centralization of journalists within the perimeters of Manhattan and DC
Quinn, of course, ignores these very real concerns to minimize Levins critique of her occasional employer The New York Times.
The Times, as many are aware and Levin details in stunning detail, attempted to conceal the Holocaust from the American people. A decade earlier, the publishers of the Times concealed the massacre of millions of Ukrainians by Stalin.
Quinn admits that its coverage of these events was inadequate, though they were in fact borderline criminally negligent. Curiously, Quinns description of this outrage echoes the words of the Times in its press release responding to Levins charges.
If there were the equivalent of a Hippocratic Oath for journalism, it would certainly advocate zealously reporting the truth when it could save millions of lives.
But, as Levins title for Chapter Six confirms, countless innocents were instead betrayed by the Times owners to avoid being seen as a Jewish newspaper.
As a Times contributor, Quinn should never have been permitted to review a book that reveals the mostly forgotten legacy of the newspaper of record.
But, with that said, she could have operated with a modicum of intellectual honesty and offered a balanced assessment of Levins arguments. But she couldnt and didnt. Which is why she ignored Chapter One.
Annalisa Quinn should never be permitted to write a taxpayer-funded book review again. You and I are paying for her verbal excrement.
sally quinn’s daughter or grand daughter?
Wouldn’t know - couldn’t care:
A dingbat is a dingbat is a dingbat
Genealogy has nothing to do with it
Tax dollars to support NPR is a valid point.
But I thought it was the Left that demanded people resign or be terminated for exercising their first amendment rights.
Imho, Annalisa Quinn is not fit to shine Mark’s shoes.
Mark Levin's new book is so lazily done that it's clearly not meant to be a *book* -- what people are really buying is a chance to say "screw you" to the media. That so many want to (#1 on amazon!) is worth paying attention to: https://t.co/t1z5HyX231 pic.twitter.com/QR8waVJeAX— Annalisa Quinn (@Annalisa_Quinn) May 22, 2019
Your review is so lazily done, you chose to focus more on your political bias than actually analyzing the book. Your are clearly not meant to be a *book reviewer*.— Bill Yanko (@BillYanko) May 22, 2019
What a fraud. Your comical "review" is the PERFECT evidence that @marklevinshow is SPOT ON as usual. Not sure how you get paid for such inaccurate rubbish. There's a reason his book is already #1.— Bob (@BobPSU) May 22, 2019
With all do respect, I believe youre a perfect example why most Americans dont trust the MSM. Common sense people can see the progressive activism is filling the newsrooms and newspapers, you included.— Cooper Qually (@coopispoop) May 22, 2019
Thanks for your recommendation, Annalisa! After reading your review I ordered several copies of this important book. I want all my friends to read it,— Vladimir Shafranov (@vovashafranov) May 22, 2019
Didn’t she just make the title of the book come to life?
Close your mouth, girlie; you’re drawing flies.

“what people are really buying is a chance to say “screw you” to the media. “
And worth every penny no doubt!
Didnt she just make the title of the book come to life?
Yes! And Im sure shes totally unaware of what she has actually done. Another wonderful American woman showing everyone her magnificent IQ.
Good responses to that ignorant, leftist hack.

Probably a mispelling of ‘quisling.’
The headline made me think he was physically attacked because he is on his book tour. Not nice.
Imagine the media without leftist manipulation ... Imagine .
Soon without the leftists covering for them all the rest of the leftist damage to this country would be fully in the sunlight ... Imagine.
Soon America without the baleful leftist influence ... Imagine.
LETS MORE THAN ‘IMAGINE’
BOYCOTT DENOUNCE DISEMPOWER
One of the great things about the internet, and President Trump’s Administration, is that we now see beyond any question that big media in this country is no better than Pravda in the former Soviet Union. Sunlight is the greatest disinfectant, and heaven knows our government needs disinfecting.
don’t give her any more face time. That’s what they want!
Thanks for posting the photo.
Instead of a Jewish newspaper, they’re a dishonest anti-American newspaper.
Close your mouth, girlie; youre drawing flies.
LMAO. Now that there is damn funny, and sexist to boot!
