NEW YORK, NYA new report out of well-known political lecture show Saturday Night Live indicated Friday that the series will undergo a drastic genre change, shifting to a comedic format.
Insiders claim the series will attempt to have jokes, funny skits, and clever writing. It's a major change for the series, since it pretty much just lectures you on what to believe politically at this point.
"We wanted to try something different," one SNL writer said. "I know that just having angry, nonsensical lectures against the right has been a really popular format for the 682 viewers we have left, but we wanted to shake it up a bit. We started thinking, 'What if we make up funny parodies and do clever skits and stuff?' Someone dug up some old footage from the show 30 years ago and it seemed like they were doing that kind of stuff then."

They wouldn’t know comedy if it bit them on the arse.
Maybe they can try watching some old SNL shows.
Old SNL was hysterical, these idiots dont have the talent to make it happen they could watch till the cows come home NEW SNL has no talent to pull it off!!!
Call up Eddie Murphy and ask him to tell you about it, a little.
Haven’t watched since him and Joe Piscapo.
SNL will require a good many tweaks to reach the entertainment quality first seen when it debuted.
If the Babylon Bee is reporting fact, might attempt to “go home again”. Hoping for the best; expecting cheap substitution.
Sure they will. As the first skit will be a Trump bash. Count on it.
Naw, Babylon Bee is satire. The article is not to be taken seriously.
672 viewers.......lololol...Winning is great....we shall see......
SNL needs a purge. But it won’t happen.
Suspicion confirmed. Only good to be said about SNL is the fact it precedes Sunday.
Satire and true.
I actually watch the clips with Adam Sandler when he was on a couple of weeks ago, and actually laughed a few times.
As much hate as he gets, he knows how to just entertain people with what is sadly now old school humor.
Far as I’m concerned, they can dump SNL and return to the good old Saturday Night scary movies.
Back in 1976, I got my soda, popcorn and sat down to watch Shock Theater, as I always had, when on came...”LIVE FROM NEW YORK! IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT!” some stupid comedy show.
I said...”Where’s my monster movie”? Even waited to see if it would come on after the SNL nonsense. It didn’t.
The writer being quoted is Ralph Lauren Bacall. He was disgruntled after watching Jimmie Kimmel’s All in the Family/Jeffersons live reenactment that swept ABC to a staggering ratings victory on the last day of the season.
He didn’t find out until later that the scripts on the reenactment were verbatim from decades ago, hence the repeated use of the ‘N’ word and lack of Trump bashing.
Bacall realized if people would laugh at something so nonpolitical, SNL might be missing a bet.
***old SNL shows.***
I would rather see THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS from the early 1960s or NNTN(NOT NECESSARILY THE NEWS) from the 1980s.
From the first SNL after 9/11:
Lorne Michaels: Can we be funny?
Mayor Rudy Giuliani: Why start now?
If they really wanted to be funny they should just show back-to-back Joe Biden clips. They would never be in danger of running out of new material.
The problem with political comedy these days is that it isn’t funny. It’s angry and unhinged. SNL, Colbert, Kimmel, Bill Maher, Jim Carrey, everyone is so “woke” that all they do is go on non-stop tirades about Trump. There is no difference in tone and delivery between “comedy” such as SNL and the “opinion journalism” of Rachel Maddow.
Needs more cowbell.
