Sounds like their legal bill is going to be filled with hours upon hours of phone calls, and they will wonder how it could possibly be so high.
It will come in handy in prison. She will be popular among the other prisoners.
Maybe they should have spent more energy making sure their kid wasnt dumber than a post.
Unless, of course, you're targeted by the slime who have a bottomless checkbook of taxpayer money.
Then, you have to get lucky, like the Bundys.
Nothing like a little bit of hubris to make a jury love you.
I don’t think they did anything wrong, people have been paying $$$ to get their kids into good schools forever.
They could get them on tax evasion, since they used the payments as a tax deduction- but that is also allowed.
UNLESS you cannot give a gift in anticipation of receiving something... ? (admission for her daughter)
Foolish to fight the Feds in court. Very high percentage losing proposition. If she truly is a type A personality then she has fallen into the trap of believing her own BS. More likely she is just used to getting her own way by being a bitch - that is not type A.
Good. They can both be put in 'A' Block.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster. But then, they can always blame their lawyers for not controlling them.
Type A = Accused? Arraigned? Arrested? Ascrewed?
I used to follow Loughlin on twitter until her pro-Hillary posts made me sick and I un-followed. I have no sympathy for her now, knowing she’s a Hillary supporter.
“Mommy, mommy, I wanna go back to college NOW! I’m missing all the good parties and stuff!”
Why am I the only one not “outraged” and demanding jail for them? How is what they did any different than what the rich do every year for their lackluster kids by handing millions to the school “officially”?
Type A? Sounds more like desperate.
Their going to be Type F’d, once the verdict comes in.
They are worth $100m. That’s plenty for mounting a defense against the Feds. Honest services theft is generally a charge levied against the gatekeepers lining their own pockets, not the ones providing the cash to do so. I think Loughlin & hubby will walk and all of the people who made plea deals resulting in prison time and felony convictions, despite having the money to fight this out in court, will regret having done so.
You have a gift for understatement. First, Ms. Laughlin and Hubby pay a cool $500K to get their air-headed spawn into a vastly overrated school (USC). Then, when they’re indicted for their role in the fraud scheme, she shows up at the courthouse smiling, waving and signing autographs. There are also reports they rejected a plea deal, then, realizing what they had done, asked prosecutors to put it back on the table. The US attorneys just laughed and said “see you in court.”
Felicity Huffman paid less than $20,000 to get someone to take the SAT for her daughter. She agreed to a plea deal, cooperated with authorities—and is still looking at four months behind bars. Laughlin and her husband will spend years in the pen, and the “vigorous defense” will make for some interesting courtroom theatrics, but it won’t save them from prison.
So, one of the co-conspiritors is a hot shot lawyer. He’s pled guilty with lots of remorseful language. Looks like free legal advice to me.
