President Donald Trumps only major Republican primary challenger said Saturday that the recent spate of abortion laws being passed in states like Alabama has him feeling terrible, and declared that abortion is a decision the government should not come anywhere near.
At a campaign stop in Exeter, New Hampshire, former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld told a crowd of voters hes the most pro-choice person youre ever going to meet.
The way I look at it, its kind of a power issue, Weld said. And who wants a lot of big, fat, white guys who live in Washington 700 miles away making the decision about whats going to happen about a family pregnancy where the family has basis for some views and maybe wants to terminate the pregnancy.
Welds stance places him far to the left of the mainstream Republican Party and Trump, whose base is often dedicated to anti-abortion measures.

Weld was born a Republican, but identifies as a democrat.
He’s on ‘Rat hormones, and has already had the ‘Rat transformation surgery.
Its cute he thinks that’s a selling point. Hos optimism is admirable.
Bill Weld told a crowd of voters hes ...the most pro-choice person youre ever going to meet.
Does the idiot realize that one statement says everything about how he sees life, the world and everything about it?
He rides with whatever the wave is.....he switched his party affiliation from ‘Libertarian’ back to the GOP in January. interesting Special Counsel Robert Muellers sole federal contribution on record went to Weld in his 1996 Senate race.
So, he’s for abortion up to age 18?
“only major Republican primary challenger”
i suppose he’s “major” if you define “major” as a nobody with no money, no organization and no chance of even getting a single delegate vote at the convention ...
That guy is a loser RINO from MASSIVE2SHITZ.
Weld will perform a live-birth abortion in front of a studio audience.
Does allowing Brian Halloran and Michael Donahue to get shot to deat count?
You can reclassify those murders as post birth abortions.
death.
He used to be quite a smart and witty guy — and decent guv for MA.
Alcohol pickled his brain decades ago.
So Bill Weld supports Murder...? He is the most Pro-Murder candidate in 2020. Sorry, Weld, you can join the Democrats in their clown car, since you are a Dem.
Then he’s a democrat.
That is absolutely not the point Weld intended to make. Never mind the fact that it was the Supreme Court in DC who forced abortion on the whole union, and also never mind the fact that the fight against that is occurring at state level against usurped power in DC.
Even worse, he puts it in the context of “family”. Families do not seek to abort babies, which is an anti-family practice.
Weld is an idiot now. He seemed to have some intelligence years ago when he served as Governor in Massachusetts. At this point he can’t even see how his own statement rebuts his argument.
He was a phony even back in 1978 when he first ran for MA Attorney General. The ‘real’ Conservative was running as the Democrat for Governor that year, Ed King. Slick Willie Weld vociferously opposed King (who was later called Reagan’s favorite Dem Governor).
That’s a bold strategy, Cotton.
We should be glad he’s not making any effort to actually appeal to GOP voters.
“100th trimester”
Exactly.
And comments like this seem like he WANTS to lose. I don't know why Weld would boost about being the "most pro-abortion candidate" in a REPUBLICAN primary, unless he suffers from some delusion that a bunch of RATS will crossover and pull a Republican ballot in the primary, despite the fact their own primary will be a huge contest.
He indeed has flat out said he’s targeting independents more than Republicans. Hard sell to get them to waste a vote on Weld rather than influencing the rat primary.
He’s running on climate change too. One state operation, NH.
They seem to think if Weld makes a dent in that primary it will hurt Trump. They cite Bush and Buchanan in 1992. But Buchanan doing well was a SYMPTOM of Bush’s unpopularity not the cause of it.
