I will tell you what I know of the way silence grows roots inside of a person, until all that is left is a brutal, crushing vacancy where a voice ought to be.
I was 17 when I was raped by a classmate. He was someone I knew, someone I trusted, but in the end, none of that mattered. I would not find out until eight months later that I was pregnant as a result of the assault. My daughter, Zoe, would grow inside of me with a fatal congenital birth defect that took away her ability to think, or emote, or connect to the world in all the fundamental ways that make a life worth living.
I was forced to give birth to the child of this rape, always connected in some way to the man who took so much from me. I lived in Alabama, which this week welcomed a draconian new abortion law, but the state’s politicians have never borne any ethical compunctions about controlling women and subverting their agency. To them, we are collateral in a game of politics, and the suffering they inflict matters very little ― if at all ― to them. They have no interest in perspective or stories like my own, but I must speak ― or else the woman behind me might not.
It starts with a man at a water park in Destin, Florida, and I’m 9 years old. He grabs my inner tube as he passes by, reaches under and sticks his fingers high up between my thighs. His thumb strokes against me. I look over at him, shocked. I want to scream, but he smiles back at me. His eyes are everywhere I am.

You never even had to hold the baby in the hospital if it reminded you of the rape that much.
You could have even asked the doctor to move you out of the maternity ward during your stay!
There were choices other than abortion! You chose to keep the child no one made you do this!

No I’ve seen her and her baby’s pic before in other pro life stories. Remember something about wanting to abort the child because of disabilities or something. Can’t remember all stories but the pics? Oh yea I remember.

Facts amd evidence seem to indicate that compounding the rape, by killing the baby, only compounds the problem for the one raped who has to now live with two mistakes the one far worse than the another, and pushed by the abortion industry not the Church. I am only referring to evidence from the past and I am not the one having to live with those difficult decisions, having been counselled what to do in such cases by the likes of Planned Parenthood or some other agency with an agenda.
Could you post this response on the HuffPo website? It might open some rather closed minds.

Wow, that really sucks. But I’d be willing to bet your life has been just chock full of trauma-drama.
My brother was an adopted rape baby, and he’s had a FABULOUS life. His nickname since high school has been “the Greek god.” Beautiful wife, three gorgeous, accomplished kids, a wonderful grandson they have a relationship with even though his son is no longer with the mother. And a corporate career others can only dream about. Last time I talked to him he was on his way to work in his brand new Range Rover: pretty sweet.
What a rotten woman. She hated Zoe for being imperfect. She says she’d have done anything to alleviate Zoe’s suffering. Liar. She’d have done anything (including murder) to have avoided the burden on HERSELF of having a sick, abnormal kid.
Ill just be honest here, while yes there are women who are raped and impregnated because of that, however that number is probably around the 2% mark if not lower the fact is the vast majority of people who get pregnant, get pregnant by choice and because they made a stupid mistake and do not want the trouble of keeping a kid.
Got to call it as I see it.
Either that or some poor shmo is being railroaded by a lying woman for false rape charges or for child support.
