UN leader travels to Pacific to see climate change firsthand

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said Wednesday that he’s traveling to three South Pacific island nations to see the effects of climate change firsthand.

Speaking in Fiji, the U.N. leader said he wanted to learn about the work being undertaken by island communities to bolster resilience.

He said the Pacific needs stronger international support because climate change is taking place faster than efforts to address it.

“The last four years were the hottest on record. The loss of ice in Greenland and Antarctica is accelerating, meaning that sea levels will rise a full meter (over 3 feet) by 2100 if nothing is done to avoid it,” Guterres said. “Here in the Pacific, sea-level rise in some countries is four times greater than the global average and is an existential threat to some island states.” …

“”The loss of ice in Greenland and Antarctica is accelerating””

He learned his lines well - we’ve only been hearing this for the past 30 years. Tell us something new - IF YOU HAVE IT!

It sounds like he just wanted a vacation on the UN’s dime.

That is how I see it. And I think that is exactly what this is.

I find it amusing how they claim hottest ever, when the precision with which they claim hottest ever (0.01 degrees) is not only not achievable with the instrumentation used to measure the temperature in the first place, but the variance of the temperature in a single room is Several orders of magnitude higher than the supposed difference in worldwide temperature between this year and last years “record”

Will he be traveling by magic carpet? Because otherwise his silly trip will be contributing to Global Warming.

The relative sea level trend is 6.34 millimeters/year with a 95% confidence
interval of +/- 1.21 mm/yr based on monthly mean sea level data from
1972 to 2016 which is equivalent to a change of 2.08 feet in 100 years. (with the following caveat)

I can see the hurry to pull off a UN paid junket. (I also believe Fiji is seismically active so how does one balance this out?)

Since we’re still the biggest contributor to the UN, it’s basically on our dime.

Misleading headline but what else is new. Should be “U.N. Leader takes all-expense paid trip to paradise in order to further the climate hoax narrative”.

Well ... if he goes to the China Sea, NW of The Philippines, he'll discover a mysterious island has popped up that wasn't there ten years ago .... complete with military baracks and landing strip.

Absolute PROOF the China Sea/Pacific Ocean area(s) are evaporating !

Global warming is back in the news.

You needs to get edjumacated like all the Gaia worshipers, all them now that the name 'Greenland' has nothing to with flora, it was named after it's discoverer Sven Greenhard! Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I will support further efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the USA when China, India and other countries have increased their efforts to equal ours.

It was named Greenland as a marketing ploy because that was before they discovered the wonders of “this one weird trick” to get people to move there.

It is an outright lie. The earth has cooled the last two years. You have to search NASA to find that tidbit though.
