She did this song from Calamity Jane in one take.

From “The Man Who Knew Too Much”
Throughout the filming, Doris Day became increasingly concerned that Sir Alfred Hitchcock paid more attention to camera set-ups, lighting, and technical matters than he did to her performance. Convinced that he was displeased with her work, she finally confronted him. His reply was, My dear Miss Day, if you werent giving me what I wanted, then I would have to direct you!
I can’t even begin to choose.
“Secret Love”
Virtually all the renditions on “Moonlight Bay” series. I absolutely adore the “Till We Meet Again” with her and Gordon MacRae.
“Sentimental Journey”
Yes, Hitch took note of Day in Stuart Heisler’s STORM WARNING with Ronald Reagan/Ginger Rogers. They met at a party while both were trying to blend into the wallpaper.
sigh
Is it the same song that Frank Ifield (an Aussie) sang?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQF-VsbMfDA
Her son wrote a lot of her sixties sex comedy song lyrics, like Move Over Darling etc., some of which were really cute.
It is so interesting how when someone dies, a recognition of who they were in the Spirit blossoms for everyone to see.

Verily, verily I say unto you, unless a grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
ERV
It is a fact that a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die before it can grow and produce much more wheat. If it never dies, it will never be more than a single seed.
I am very touched by Doris Day’s passing today. May the Lord bless her memory.
How about this one?
Her voice was spectacular even through her forties.
Such sorrow!
Her passing is much like Pres Reagan’s passing: It leaves such a void in the world and it’s such a long time before anyone can come close to where they stood.
As more and more of my childhood stars/heroes pass, it saddens me that today’s young folks, including adults simply do not have heroes to mourn.
I was really dreading this day.
Me too... it’s a sad Day
If she didn’t make your heart melt...
You had no heart.
LOL anyone’s voice should be great through their 40s.
I’m almost 50 and my singing voice is still liked by many people, including my young son.
Yes indeed.
There were many times she was enchanting. She could flat sing.
The reason I mentioned Doris Day’s 1965 and 1967 recording sessions, when she was in her mid forties was because she did not formally record again until the mid 1980’s when her voice was not what it was in the sixties.
Also in context of my posts, I was comparing different versions of “I Remember You” from 1956 to 1965...
Also note the richness in tone in Close Your Eyes in that same timespan.
Back when Hollywood had talent.
