Actress and former model Peggy Lipton, who rose to stardom in the late 1960s on the counterculture police series “The Mod Squad” and later starred on TV’s “Twin Peaks,” has died.

Her death from cancer was announced Saturday by Kidada and Rashida Jones, her daughters from a marriage to famed music producer Quincy Jones.

“She made her journey peacefully with her daughters and nieces by her side,” Lipton’s daughters said in a statement to The Times. “We feel so lucky for every moment we spent with her.”

Born in New York on Aug. 30, 1946, Lipton began modeling at age 15 and quickly found herself in demand. At age 19, she made her television debut on the sitcom “The John Forsythe Show,” going on to make appearances on such series as “Bewitched,” “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” and “The Virginian.”

And her ex-husband is still with us at the age of 86.

Served a Damn Fine Cherry Pie also.

When I first saw her on Twin Peaks, she looked like she’d hardly aged from Mod Squad. At one point Linc made a cameo appearance on Twin Peaks.

I remember liking Mod Squad a lot, although it felt 60’s campy even back then.

RIP

Goodbye Peggy. I loved watching your show The Mod Squad.
Peggy was attractive and elegant, before i knew what that meant.

Decades later (1987), the theme was brought back with a little reshaping. That show was called 21-Jump Street, Starring Johnny Depp. Even back then, Johnny got special treatment and top billing. Dom Deluise had a son who acted in this also Peter Deluise. The only girl was black; Holly Robinson Peete. She still acts sometimes. Was never a big star.

So sad, she was hot. Like Michelle Phillips, Marianne Faithfull, and Susan Dey. I am sad that any of these ladies got old.

She was on “Psych” about five years ago, and she looked great.

Very sad... people do not know the depths of spiritual batscrazy horrible things actresses like Lipton get into. I pray she found Christ before the end, and that her children find Him now.

Yeah, I wondered too. I checked wiki and saw this: "During the late 1960s and the early 1970s, Lipton had relationships with a series of alcoholic, abusive, or married men. During this time, she also used drugs."

Maybe the poster knows things we don't.

Wikipedia is not reliable for anything political but may be correct in this: During the late 1960s and the early 1970s, Lipton had relationships with a series of alcoholic, abusive, or married men. During this time, she also used drugs. Lipton covered some of this period in her memoir "Breathing Out" (2005), co-written by David and Coco Dalton.
