The birth of Prince Harry and Meghan's baby boy has signalled the first time that a person has had the right to become both the British monarch and the US President. Baby Sussex is automatically a British citizen based on the Duke of Sussex's citizenship status and also due to being born in the UK. But assuming Meghan did not voluntarily give up her own US citizenship when she married Harry, which she was no required to do by law, the baby will also be granted American citizenship himself. The implication of being naturally-born citizen of the United States means Baby Sussex could one day run for office as US President.

The correct term is citizen. The term ‘subject’ hasn’t been in effect for decades.
Wrong is correct. She accepted the title of duchess. US citizens are not allowed titles. Father is British. Son born in Britian of royalty has no claim on US citizenship.
She gave up her citizenship to marry into royal family.
There's a reason for the "natural born citizen" restriction. Keeps us from being taken over by folks with conflicted loyalties.
Here comes the NBC crowd. (I agree, but its not ever going to be an option...)
They certainly did question it....and legally. He was eventually declared eligible.
“Umm, someone does not understand natural born citizen.
Apparently not. They keep speaking of Kamala Harris as if she is one, too. She is not.
“I don’t like dual citizenship.”
I think it’s wrong, too. It makes no sense at all.
She announced intent to give up her citizenship. There is no word that she has actually, and may not until she is a UK citizen, which hasn’t happened yet. Other royals from outside, such as Prince Philip, gave up their foreign citizenship.
The refers to “Naturalization” of immigrants. They are NOT Natural born Citizens.
“She accepted the title of duchess.”
A few days ago I read MM was pissed about that, too. She wanted to be “Princess”, but QE said, “Uh uh.”
Well, with the exception of Trump, that hasn't worked out very well for us of recent, has it.?? :(
Only if they can come up with a birth certificate from Hawaii.
Nobody questioned his American citizenship, but lots of folks knew he wasn’t eligible to run for President.
George Romney was even worse. I’m not sure he was even a US citizen.
“The refers to Naturalization of immigrants. They are NOT Natural born Citizens.”
Unclear what your point is. I was referring to the definition of what the Founders meant when they included natural born citizen in the Constitution, which is a separate concept from however immigrants were naturalized by that Act.
The kid will be the first brother in line for the English throne, while still remaining eligible for reparations in the US.
Isn’t the minimum age for a President something like 35 years? With the world ending in 12 years because of global warming - of course he can’t be president.
Kate’s not a princess, why would Meghan be one?
Sorry. But that defines a native born citizen, NOT a natural born citizen.
See On Constitutional Eligibility.

“Umm, someone does not understand natural born citizen.”
Doesn’t seem to matter anymore does it?
