I don't think it will be as big as Bohemian Rhapsody, and Freddie Mercury, but it will do well with Elton John's fans..................

I went to a concert of his c. 1990 with about 20 people. Mostly enjoyed the music except for his 20-minute rendition of Benny and the Jets King Ralph-style on the stage, at the expense of 3 or 4 other songs he could have done.

😹🚀. I figured somebody would post that. I ain't transforming by the way.

and, unlike Malek, Egerton actually sings every note while in characterWhen dealing with a unique voice like Mercury's, it is highly unlikely that an actor can replicate it. The same was true when Jessica Lange played Patsy Cline. It would also be a problem if they made a movie about Roy Orbison. If Egerton is going to do his own singing, I hope he sounds like Elton. Tom Hiddleston was a terrible singer in the movie he did about Hank Williams.

Benny and the Jets seemed well-represented in the preview I saw.
Not interested in the movie.

The same was true when Jessica Lange played Patsy Cline. In "Coal Miner's Daughter", Beverly D'Angelo played Patsy Cline and sang all her songs, She won a Country Music Association award for Album of the Year......

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’ve seen EJ twice. One of those performers that really gives the audience their money’s worth...and then some.

I saw Elton John in concert when he was 27. I’ll keep that memory and skip the film.

I remember seeing the actual Elton John in Honolulu during his 1973 Yellow Brick Road tour. That was back in the good old days when he hadn’t officially become gay. Elton and his band put on an unbelievably terrific show.

"Elton and I were like, 'Wow, this guy is really handsome and has a real striking presence,' " remembers David Furnish, John's husband and romantic partner for 26 years. "We took a real shine to him." Uh-huh.

In "Coal Miner's Daughter", Beverly D'Angelo played Patsy Cline and sang all her songs, She won a Country Music Association award for Album of the Year......She did not sound nearly as good as Patsy Cline. Fortunately, the movie was not really about her. Patsy Cline's character was only in the movie because she was a close friend of Loretta Lynn's. I thought Sissy Spacek did a pretty job with Loretta Lynn's songs, but Loretta did not have a voice like Patsy Cline's. If you're making a movie about a singer with one of the great voices of all time, there is no point in using an actor's voice. Beverly may have sung well, but she did not sound like Patsy Cline (IMO).

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was depressing.
Freddie had a girl he loved dearly and things were fairly normal until his “friend” showed him the wretched “gay life” in NY.
If that had not happened, perhaps he wouldn’t have gotten AIDS and died.
To me, it was a movie depicting his self destruction and not “uplifting” at all.

Every week or so, someone posts a singer on FB who “OMG, sounds just like Freddie!”
No.
They don’t.
Maybe some get pretty close but there will never be another Freddie.
