FULL TITLE: 'The best horse did NOT win!' Trump blasts controversial Kentucky Derby reversal as 'political correctness' after winning horse is disqualified for 'impeding' another's path

President Donald Trump added his outrage on sunday to the national dustup over Saturday's controversial Kentuky Derby finish, complaining that disqualifying the apparent winning horse for interfering with another is a sign of 'political correctness' run amok.

'The Kentuky [sic] Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch,' Trump wrote on Twitter.

'Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!'

Trump misspelled 'Kentucky' in 'Kentucky Derby.'

The 145th running of the Triple Crown's most fabled race disintegrated into sportsmanship chaos after judges disqualified first-place finisher Maximum Security and declared runner-up Country House the winner.

TV viewers also were outraged by the result, blasting the race stewards who made the controversial call.

'Fixed! I'll never watch this again! Shame on you!' one fan declared in a tweet.

'Shameful! It was clear who won! #MaximumSecurity', added another.

While thousands were left shocked by the disqualification, it was very welcome news for one bettor who put money on Country House, an underdog with odds of 65-1.

According to sports analyst Darren Rovell, the person placed $2,500 on Country House before winning a whopping $133,000 in return.

You mean other than the fact that it’s explicitly against the rules with the punishment being disqualification. The problem is that when horses get cutoff they rear and other unpleasant activities that result in dead horses. They’re trying not to kill the horses.

The mob was behind it, with their huge bets on the 65 to 1 declared winner. 8>)

Actually it’s very much Marquis de Queensbury, it is NOT mano-a-mano, and it NOT a stab at our culture. Interference has been against the rules for a long time. They don’t really like having to put horses down on live TV, bad for the ratings, not to mention they’re freaking expensive and only make the money back as breed stock.

Rear view mirrors? Not that I’ve noticed but with all that mud flying who knows what kind of a blind spot the jockey in question might have had on his goggles?

I don’t think jockeys “pullover” to block others but to get closer to the rail - less distance to cover. And because it’s so dangerous, never when they think there’s no room.

Stacey Abrams claims she should be declared winner of the Kentucky Derby.

I think you're confusing the Derby, which is a horse race, with a 4-H livestock blue-ribbon competition.

One of the few times I disagree with the President. Impeding several horses could have gotten horses and jockeys killed. This is how Ron Turcotte became paralyzed.

One of the commentators after the race said if this was a minor race rather than the Kentucky Derby, Maximum Security would have been eliminated immediately rather than waiting 40 minutes for the judgement. No doubt he interferred.

And a lot of times the best horse doesn't win. Sometimes he gets trapped against the rail and can't break loose.

one doesn't have to add an I'll-still-vote-for-Trump disclaimer just because they criticize Trump's silly Kentucky Derby tweet.

Around here, I consider it the safe thing to do.

VERY well said. It's pretty easy to tell who knows something about racing on this thread and who doesn't.

"Maybe they gave it to the horse with a gay jockey..." - tinfoil hat time.

I suspect you are correct. I am guessing track conditions forced the jockey to move the horse off the rail. Maybe they should delay races like the Indianapolis 500 when track conditions aren’t safe..

Same as a race car driver blocking another trying to pass... I don’t see the problem...

Well, as long as you don't try to get a job in anything having to do with horse racing, you won't have a problem.

I’m not into horse racing either...I lost any interest in horse racing when they had to shoot that horse at the K Derby a few years ago...

I’ve had trail horses of my own for 50 years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one with a rear view mirror...

Have you????

Since I care nothing about racing horses, I doubt I would even consider getting a job having anything to do with horse racing....

Is that what your job is????

The non-call reversed the outcome of the game.

I haven’t see the entire race yet, just the infraction video.
We really don’t know the intent of the jockey. Since he was in the lead, he may have been looking for drier ground to run on..

This was a horse race.

Trump says the best horse didn’t win the race.

Therefore, Trump is a ‘racist’.

Democrats will be impeaching on Monday.

No, you are not alone as Trump speaks his mind and we know who he is
he is not a college trained political hack taught in polictical correctness
which any real American hates, he is one of us Americans.

Maybe we are becoming extinct but I am not changing to a socialist.

To use a phrase from Rhett Butler: “Frankly Scarlet I don’t give a damn”. And I don’t think any President should have a presidential opinion on it either. I’d say the same thing no matter who was currently the president. Does it change how I’d vote in 2020? No. But that is a different topic.
