Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli want to face trial in the college admissions scandal because they think its their best chance for redemption, a source close to them tells PEOPLE. Lori feels like so much damage has been done publicly that the only way for her to counter it is to fight this case in court, the source tells PEOPLE. She feels like once all the evidence is presented, that people will understand how things happened.

LOL
I don’t know how to do it but man does it fit. :)
How MUCH OF A FAKE WORLD do you live in!??!1
Maybe she’ll take the stand so she can utterly destroy her chances and career.
One more thing, we have these ridiculously great (for defendants) things called “plea deals”.
Take it and run!
In the federal system in whichever district you are indicted in is where all hearings and the trial take place.
Being defrauded happens to the best of us. I’m an attorney, I consider myself reasonably intelligent, and fell the victim to a telephone scam. Those guys know what they’re doing.
I was just thinking the same thing? I don’t understand you want her lawyer to argue that he is incompetent? Please explain a little better. There was a misunderstanding.
I was joking, in the sense that what Lori has done, supposedly with the advice of her lawyer, has been so poorly thought out that one wonders whether she (and her husband) are taking his advice at all
Sometimes, when somebody loses a case, they appeal on the grounds that their lawyer was incompetent... which sometimes happens. You know, the cases where the lawyer puts in no effort, falls asleep in the court during the trial, etc.
It’s never a good strategy to lose the first case and hope you’ll do better on appeal. That’s the joke here, because the decision making has been so lame. If their current position is really that they have no choice but to go to trial because that’s the only possibility of avoiding time, it’s stupid and crazy. What they should do is grovel and abase themselves before the prosecutor and beg for a deal on a guilty plea, saying they’ve seen the light.
you want her lawyer to argue that he is incompetent?
Sorry I was unclear. Shes going to go for a jury trial with these lawyers. When she loses, and she will lose, she will retain new counsel for the appeal. That lawyer will then argue that her first lawyer was incompetent.
That argument will be difficult to sustain at best. It almost never works unless the conduct of the first attorney was so egregious even a judge cant ignore it.

I agree. The best thing for her is to get this behind her. a trial will only drag things on and make her career go further south. Americans are quite forgiving. And if she just pays whatever admits to wrongdoing, I have no doubt that people will understand and forgive her.
America is the land of second chances. That’s a weird expression I just made up. LOL
Well then her lawyer has to counsel her to tone it down. Americans are forgiving as I just posted, but they don’t like people with a sense of entitlement. Most normal people in such a situation would be serious not yukking it up and signing autographs.
Such behavior is stupid.
P.s. as for the sense of entitlement, I think that’s why people like Trump. He’s wealthy, but he works for it. He never thought he was entitled to money.
Yes exactly. Any parents will be outraged at what she’s done
I thank you for the clarification. That makes sense. Have a great day, Julie
Long term, maybe not. It sounds like the only way to avoid jail is this Hail Mary pass. In a trial, she can shift the blame to those who told her what she did was standard procedure, maybe that she didn't know the money was payoffs. A "finders fee" or a counselor to find an appropriate college is common.
The whole application process is bizarre and the line between legal and illegal is blurred. Add to that, a judge could well be in that elitist, privileged club who just might have done stuff to get their kids admitted. One unintended consequence of the Kavanaugh hearing was we got a view into how out of control and entitled the HS lives of the spawn of the elite are, without any consequences for their future options.
The silver lining is there should be less pressure on students now to take expensive packages for a "better" college when there's probably a local option that's affordable.
That was my first thought. The colleges aren't being held accountable. Of course they know games are played and that they don't accept only the most qualified "students".
My question is about accreditation. For colleges that aren't special, I would think it would be on the line for such travesty of the application process. I'd love to see them sued to extinction by deserving students who weren't admitted.
That script has been taken. Martha Stuart held home making classes for her fellow prisoners, and came out and resumed her career. I still don’t know what she went to jail for.
No. The scandal has been going on for decades. Qualified middle class whites have been squeezed out of available opportunities to attend colleges which are considered most prestigious. Even if they are accepted, it usually means a life time of debt.
If college admissions were fair, white and Asian percentages would increase.
I believe Stewart went to jail for perjury.
I followed the description of what she did. It didn’t seem to be the kind of crime that deserved jail. It was bad judgement.
She is putting way more faith in her acting ability than is deserved...
She thinks because she’s Lori Loughlin, that she can cry her way out in front of a Jury....
Not going to happen... They have her and her husband dead to rights, the guy behind the entire scam gave everyone up to save himself... They gave them a deal on a lesser charge, and they refused to take it, now they will throw the book at them.
Foolish... Feds have, from all reports, an insanely detailed case, with evidence of everything... jury is going to hear every single illegal action that they took in intimate detail, and then she is going to try to claim “I didn’t know I was breaking the law”, and cry and think she’ll get off.
She should have taken the deal...
There is an old story about Governor Ronald Reagan and his proposal to make the admission system for California State Universities based completely on merit.
An aide leaned over and said, "If we do that, the student population will be overwhelmingly Asian."
Reagan said, "So what?"
But the idea went no where.
Actually the true story in all this is how these “elite” colleges are a Joke....
As far as I know, none of these kids who got in via cheating was washed out... so that tells you that the schools aren’t remotely elite in the least.. because if they were folks who cheated to get in, would not be able to handle it and would flunk out.
That’s the REAL scandal in all of this, these schools are not remotely as elite as they claim to be, just charge a lot more because fools buy into it.
