Russia which kept Damascus standing during the civil war in Syria reaps the fruits of the efforts, receiving privileges in the region.

During civil war the Syrian government resisted standing thanks to support of Russia. After the help rendered to Damascus both military, and material, Russia began to receive a response payment.

The Minister of Transport of Syria Ali Hammud said that Russian company JSC "Stroytransgaz" takes control of the largest port of the country in Tartus for a period of 49 years was transferred.

It is reported that the Russian company which received port will enclose investments in the amount of 500 million dollars.

The minister Hammud who shared information on this subject noted that the port of Tartus is not suitable for the large ships.

Productivity will increase

"Present infrastructure is not suitable for the ships with the displacement more than 30-35 kilotons, we should provide the sufficient depth of port that there cargo vessels with the displacement more than 100 kilotons could be moored" — Hammud specified. According to him, as a result of works on expansion it is going to increase productivity of port in East Mediterranean from four to 38 million tons per year.

Statement of Russia

The Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Yury Borisov noted in the statement: "The key question which should give positive dynamics is a question on use of the port of Tartus. We advanced very well on this issue, we hope that within a week the contract will be signed and the port of Tartus for 49 years will be transferred to Russia".

Libya story is not over yet

There's no possible "victory" to be proud of for the US or our allies after the suffering we caused there.

Allies ‘won’ an unrestricted influx of immigrants from Africa to Europe and decline in Libyan oil supply. As for US I have only guesses what the endgame was.

There was speculation back then that it was all about Khaddafi's maneuver away from the dollar. As part of that, Italy was very into pushing NATO for intervention to depose him because they were afraid he'd take his billions out of Italian banks. And then there's Benghazi....the closest port to oil fields which a western oil company was developing in western Egypt. (remember, we did the regime change thing in Egypt, too, but they took their country back).

Makes one wonder why the Benghazi situation never got to the courts, and nobody was held responsible.

I believe Benghazi finally cost Hillary her position as a Secretary of State.
