Woodstock 50 has been cancelled. Earlier today officials with Dentsu Aegis Network, which is funding the festival, released the following statement to Billboard:
Its a dream for agencies to work with iconic brands and to be associated with meaningful movements. We have a strong history of producing experiences that bring people together around common interests and causes which is why we chose to be a part of the Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festival. But despite our tremendous investment of time, effort and commitment, we dont believe the production of the festival can be executed as an event worthy of the Woodstock Brand name while also ensuring the health and safety of the artists, partners and attendees."
The statement goes on, "As a result and after careful consideration, Dentsu Aegis Networks Amplifi Live, a partner of Woodstock 50, has decided to cancel the festival. As difficult as it is, we believe this is the most prudent decision for all parties involved.
Headliners at the three-day event included The Killers, Dead and Co, Imagine Dragons and Jay-Z. Other artists on the bill included Miley Cyrus, The Lumineers, Chance the Rapper, Sturgill Simpson, Halsey and Cage the Elephant, among many others. Organizers also enticed several veteran musicians from the original 1969 Woodstock to perform, including John Fogerty, John Sebastian, David Crosby, Canned Heat and Country Joe McDonald.

Smelly Virus was part of it? Whatta joke.
The number of people who actually care about rock music one way or the other are aging out, let alone Woodstock era fans. They’re putting the best public face they can on pulling the plug but I strongly suspect ticket sales are the problem.
The Who and the Grateful Dead were paid in full in cash
LOL, I would have loved to see them try to stiff Led Zeppelin with Peter Grant.
Today’s ecofascists were going to slaughter all of the cows to save the planet from cow farts.

Drum and bass rap solos are as old as Woodstock.
These kids today are listening to their GRANDPARENTS music and Snoop Doggy Dog Person knows it. He used to sneak grandma’s Rudy Ray Moore and Blowfly albums.

Of course, if Fakestock wanted to pick up from what went before, they’d have Ginger Baker on drums with Fela Kuti’s son Seun Kuti.

But this lineup wants to be Coachella and bites.
But no photo IDs to vote.
states are corrupt AF.
Concerts are a bigger concern than votes.
Altamont was another clusterf*ck from Michael Lang along with Woodstock 99 and this turd.
So was his Miami fest before Woodstock.
Horrible at logistics. Irresponsible at any level except drawing his own paycheck and tooting his own horn. And sh!tty taste in music too.
Bob Dylan was the original artist they wanted. He lived in Woodstock. He played 94. And here we are 25 years later.
I think even the mud was spiked with LSD
Coachella for Grown Ups. On the site of Coachella
The only things different about Woodstock were the film and the album.
Isle of Wight had as many people.
There were similar fests for days in Texas, Atlanta, Florida, California, Toronto, etc etc.
But they are largely only remembered by those who went or are avid tape collectors.
Substance means nothing, neither does craft, skill, contributions, originality, versatility, or anything. Hypes and stream farms are all that matter. If others say "you big" you are big
Rock acts like Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones played OTHER festivals in the US that year. Festivals that went off without the lawlessness and theft that occurred in New York
Like Altamont?
Altamont was another screwup from Michael Lang. How he still gets name checked in these gigs is a mystery to me

No horror show.
40,000 attended

The tally: 130 drug overdoses, 14 eye injuries, 42 intestinal disorders, 1,700 headaches and minor cuts, 1,000 reported conversions to Christianity, 130 drug arrests, and one death, of a teen struck by a truck. Rupp lost $300,000 to $500,000, all the cash I had and all that Id borrowed.
In 1999, Heidtman who would die at 91 in 2007 dismissed as myths reports he planted alligators in canals and red ants in the fields, saying Florida always supplies plenty. But he did unapologetically say, If I had it to do over again, Id try to stop it.
Toronto had Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent, Alice Cooper, the Doors, Tony Joe White, Chicago, and John Lennon with Eric Clapton.

Barely a month after Woodstock. These weren’t spontaneous knockoffs
