I promise, I won't give away any details or main plot twists. My take on the movie? Meh.
As a wrapup, it definitely did the job, tying up---for good or bad---virtually all of the character lines.
As an action pic it was ok. There was as much if not more humor in this than others. Something about it just didn't work for me.
Again---and this is predictable so I'm not giving anything away---at the end of "Infinity Wars," the "SNAP" caused 1/2 of the universe to disappear. The film begins years later as the Avengers, like everyone else, is trying to cope with the loss of loved ones.
Part 1 is the Avengers getting the will and the plan to combat the "SNAP."
Part 2 is them achieving the means.
Part 3 is the expected battle.
Josh Brolin stole "Infinity Wars" by being somewhat altruistic. Like any good totalitarian dictator, he can fix all problems if he has infinite power. His sadness and (apparently genuine) despondency over the burden of doing this came through and drove the character. That largely disappears in "Endgame," where he becomes what all dictators are, impetuous, unchecked, lacking any moral compass save his own.
One good device the plot uses is to divide up the very large heroic cast into several smaller teams, which is always good to watch different heroes interact with each other. The addition of "Captain Marvel" is handled well.
Just one note on the final battle: It's as if Thanos all of a sudden forgets he has the stones (literally) especially space and time and power. He's like Muhammad Ali drawn into the middle of the ring to trade punches with George Foreman. Ain't a winning strategy.
Despite the attempts to make Robert Downy, Jr. the star, Chris Hemsworth again emerges as the most likeable character. Not nearly as much of the "Guardians" as I'd like.
I will spoil this one minor scene because it shows the current makeup of Hollywood: during the first act when all are depressed, repressed, suppressed, oppressed, sittin' on the Group W. bench (as Arlo Guthrie used to sing), Tony Stark is leading a therapy group. One guy says, "I wasn't able to date for 2 years. I finally went on a date." Stark: "What did you talk about?" Him: "Well, we talked about the disappearances, then HE started to cry, then . . . ." Sigh.
So the insertion of homosexuality into a scene were it was absolutely not necessary whatsoever is just one more reminder that Hollywood's homosecual community can inject gay-ism into a rock.

Ummmm... That's not a spoiler, that's simply background, a callback to the last moments of the previous film. If you didn't see that scene, you would have no idea what is going on in this installment.

Got a little distracted in 3rd act wondering how or when certain characters would reappear..... waiting for Godot.
And then distracted wondering if I was supposed recognize a young man standing alone ... No we were not.
Great movie! I feel sorry for those who just hate any and everything...just because. Not a fun way to go through life, and not fun people to be around.

Kinda/sorta, yeah. His Gaunlet Snap in the last film was supposed to save the many worlds from the overuse of their resources. (Sound familiar?) Nice of the Marvel folks to install the idea of a benevolent reason to kill billions.
And, like all Leftist ideas, their "solution" wouldn't actually fix the problem anyway. In reality, the human population just doubled in the last 47 years. A Gauntlet Snap wouldn't save the planet and its resources for thousands of years... it would barely buy a few decades, even accepting all of their nonsense notions and suppositions.
As others have noted, if a movie does not NEED a big theater screen and sound system, people will prefer watching at home.
The availability of 4K TV will further accelerate the trend away from movie theaters.
I enjoyed it quite a bit. Was surprised at how well paced it was. I got to a dinner theater, guy came at what felt like should be about halfway through, asked if I wanted another beer, I said yes. Beer came, two minutes later the check came, which they do half an hour before the end.
Yeah, the people against escapist entertainment are funny. It’s the oldest form of entertainment. People like it because entertainment is for escape.
In the book, Thanos retires to a farm in the conclusion. Is that how it plays out in the movie?
"Great" in what ways? It's mostly a huge collection of characters we have come to enjoy, in yet another Big Battle Scene. Everything was done BIG (music, effects, explosions, etc) but nothing was done with great meaning or putting this film into its own category. "Infinity War" was better in just about every way, other than the repeated montages of lots of characters that we know and like. If it wasn't a Grand Finale, this film could have been an hour shorter and lost nothing.
It is a GOOD film, definitely a B... maybe a B+ if you're a real Marvel devotee... but its grand accomplishments are simply the PR and the sales numbers. As a movie, for 3 hours of entertainment, there are many many films that would bring just as much to the table as this one. Gobbling up a billion dollars in a weekend will make it remembered for decades, but little else.
Note: pretending that we "hate" something just because we give it a rational review and find that it isn't world-changing, says far more about you than about us. It's the current favorite tactic of the Left, and I hope it is unwelcome here.

Sure enough, they use pretzel logic to get an end. When you have time travel, you can do anything. :)
That's actually the conclusion of the "Infinity War" storyline, but Thanos is shown on a nice little scenic farm of his own in "Endgame" at some point.
While that's not giving away much that matters in the movie, we are getting close to giving away substantive content, so I'll leave it at that, unless you want more in private messaging.

I enjoyed the movie, but yeah ... could’ve done with more Guardians presence. Lots of easter eggs, unexpected moments, and some expected but well done moments.
I was a fan of the comics in my youth, so that's why I enjoy the movies. Are they everyone's cup of tea? No. But then ... how boring would this world be if we all liked the same things all the time?
I would argue this point, but it would spoil the movie for everyone who hasn't seen it yet.
