Avengers: Endgame has done the impossible.
In just five days, the Marvel film hauled in more than $1.2 billion at the global box office.
This shatters the previous record for the highest weekend total of $641 million set by Avengers: Infinity War last year. This has never happened before and marks the fastest a film has ever reached the billion dollar mark.
Infinity War was the previous record holder with 11 days.
In the U.S., the Marvel superhero flick took in a record-breaking estimated $350 million during its opening weekend, shattering expectations. The previous domestic record was held by Avengers: Infinity War, which opened last year to $257.6 million.
Disney bumped up its estimates for the films full weekend Saturday after a record opening day debut, saying it expected the film to gross between $310 million and $340 million in the U.S.

Grown men who like comic book movies must turn in their man card.
If my grandkids drag me to an Avengers movie, there damn well better be a Mrs. Peel in it.
Its a very good movie, a perfect wrap to this MCU arc
That is what is coming next:
Marvel President: Movies Will Go Inclusive, Adding Gay and Body Positive Heroes
I liked it, but I think the 3+ hour run time was unnecessary since IMHO the pacing was too slow in parts.
1.2 billion and the weekend is not done. Iron Man (1) 585 million over the course of its run. Either there is a lot more inflation than the government admits (in theater ticket prices), or there is a “phenomena” going on. Or, both.
There was a gay director in the support group scene talking about his guy date. “His” part of that conversation was less than important.
Tell me how much is charged per seat.
I was betting on polyamorous.
Knew this thing would be crazy.. however honestly I thought the movie was Meh.
My daughter keeps telling me stories about the actress (Brie Larsen), who plays Captain Marvel, is a real b***h. Nasty, with an over-sized ego.
Going tonight. Can’t wait.
Yes, biggest blockbuster in history.
What about grown women? I am 64, and we just returned from seeing Endgame. Now, because hubby and I have seen all of the Avenger movies, we had the background to know what was going on.
These are well made movies. The characters are well formed and the stories are good. I have enjoyed this series of movies; and, the Captain America movies, plus Guardians of the Galaxy (lot of humor in Guardians).
It's not Shakespeare; but, it isn't trying to be. They are trying to entertain us; and, I believe they have succeeded.
Well in that case, if she ends up with an undersized career it’ll be poetic justice.
There was some magazine article from March I saw on an internet search about her where she figures that her CM character “could beat Superman in a fight”. Okay, sure . . .
I paid $10.66 for my seat, and $14.44 for a bottle of water and a large popcorn. That’s $25.10 to sit in place for 3.5 hours and ingest about 45 cents worth of food.
No fan of Tara King, I take it.
The original characters were both male, with David Keel as the main character and John Steed as second banana.
My daughter was telling me about some talk show where several of the Avenger: Endgame cast were present and Chris Hemsworth said that Thor was the strongest Avenger. Brie Larsen says, no, Captain Marvel is. Hemsworth laughs and says, no, it is Thor. She kept arguing that is was Captain Marvel.
She seems like someone who doesn't work well with others.
non-spoiler about the end... there is no reason to stay for the credits. There’s no special “Easter egg” to wait for. The credits last for 9 minutes, ad then the lights come on. It was a weird disappointment for a decade-long franchise the was famous for the credits extras.
